Distant objects is buggy and poorly documented

yeah. and here's getting back at Galahaut for being an arrogant j@ck@ss.
when the geck generates the distant object data, it creates a mesh in landscape/lod/worldspace/blocks
the mesh is given textures that dont exist. you have to change the texture path in the mesh yourself for your distant object to show up. without them your distant building is invisible. also, having distant objects with missing textures makes the game really jerky.

I think you misunderstood his post. He was simply stating that the deficiencies in the GECK program are more likely oversights than they are deliberate sabotage as you claimed they were.

The GECK is unstable due to Bethesda having ripped out their personal addons that they could not legally release for free. It has nothing to do with Bethesda trying to stop modders. Why would they do something that stupid?

If you have information backing up this claim (about 'ripping stuff out' causing the GECK to be unstable) please post a link to that information. Otherwise, I'll go with the GECK being unstable because it's unstable, just like TES CS was.
