Does DosBox work with out the cd? or do you have to go through the install part? I'm running nocd and copied the files to games folder but i can't seem to figure it out. FOR DAGGERFALL. (Trying to run on laptop)

You have to INSTALL the game in DOSBox and then copy the movie files to the game folder and change the cd directory in the user configuration file in order for the game to work without the CD.

This may be why I get a black screen when running DF through DOSBox. I used a previous install, made in Windows. I was convinced that it made no difference. DF should not touch the registry, as it's made as a DOS game, and I can run setup.exe to get the sound to work. So, why do you state that it has to be installed through DOSBox? What is it that the install changes?

You can use the install you made in Windows, you just have to make sure that the Z.CFG file is configured correctly (path= and pathcd=), and if you are running the no cd thing, then you must type fall z.cfg to start the game.

OK, I have the z.cfg thing under control and have had that for some time. I guess I'm out of luck for now, then.

Edit:
-oh this is about Daggerfall and my post is about ARENA, stupid me... but if you want to install Daggerfall, read the "How to get past games to work" in the top section of the forums, and theres a thing about DAGGERFALL and how to get it to work without the CD and how to do it in the middle, or... there are other guides on Daggerfall at the bottom. I hope those will help you if you havent read it yet :)

In fact I just used the guide again on how to get Daggerfall to install. I love that game but its TOO BIIIIIG.... lol its awesome, at least I wont be too bored when I want to do something in that game :P
