What's going on?

Post » Sun Jan 17, 2010 2:20 am

I haven't been on these forums is... Months.
I know there's going to be a fifth TES game and there's been a lot of hoaxes and false information where it will take place in Cyrodiil. Did infromation come out saying it is DEFINITELY taking place here?
Skyrim's sort of small. (:
Can someone fill me in on TES?

I would consider the fact that you are posting at the Official Bethesda Forums under "Skyrim General Discussion" as proof enough it definitely taking place in Skyrim...
:)

The only info that has been released though is that it is coming out 11/11/11 and that it is being made on a completely new, overhauled engine.

A smaller landmass is probably for the better, it means we can have more varied and unique areas to visit instead of the cloned forests from Oblivion, also are you not sure about it being set in Skyrim even though the game is called that? Sorry if I read that wrong, I'm a little tired. :D

Guys, smaller lore landmass =/= smaller in-game landmass. :)

Ah, actually that's a fair point. Can't think too much, don't want to hurt my brain. D:

Absolutely not. Bethesda put us in charge of fabricating the illusion of TES V in Skyrim and it seems we're doing a fine job. Notice that the teaser is so generic that we could be talking about Cliff Racers invading Elsewyr and you'd be equally impressed.

Since you are prone to disappearing for months, I guess the community will allow me to reveal it to you:

"TES V Skyrim" will happen in Blackmarsh. But keep it secret....

Looking at the map Skyrim isn't all that much smaller than Cyrodiil and they did scale the map up from Morrowind to Oblivion.

Maybe they will add High Rock or parts of Hammerfell to make the area bigger.

i mean yeah skyrim appears small they r simply going to change the proportions of everything. It'll probably be bigger then cyrodill was just watch. Because the size does not have to be relative to the size of cyrodill in oblivion. Its a whole new games so they can make skyrim gigantic if they want in-game. they'll mess with the proportions so its fine.

Brilliant, thanks for the enlightenment. I knew there was a reason I visit these forums, and this confirms it.

BTW - The landmass of all of Cyrodiil in Oblivion was "almost double" that of the small island of Vvardenfell within Morrowind province. Considering that you couldn't actually set foot on a lot of the land in OB due to the lack of levitation or climbing, and that some of it was outside the "invisible borders", the actual "playable" area was only slightly larger, while the area it represented was probably something like 10X as much. Considering that DF's small section of High Rock province was hundreds of times larger than the map of the entire province of Cyrodiil, the size of Skyrim province is meaningless. Only the playable "in-game" area, and how much of the province it represents, are important.
