[WIP] - Role Into Town

Post » Sun Jan 17, 2010 7:58 pm

This was originally going to be part of my Vampirism Mod, allowing the Vampire to enter the various Towns in a suitable fashion, but I decided to evolve it into a small Stand-Alone Mod (so a short break from Vampirism whilst I work on it). It's probably been done before, but Variety is always good :)

What it basically does is add a few new entrances to each Town in Cyrodiil (Anvil-Skingrad, excluding IC and Kvatch), which are designed to be "alternative" ways of entering the Town. It is intended for Roleplaying purposes-- so that wanted criminal doesn't have to walk passed the Guards to go about his business; that assassin can slip out unnoticed once she's taken down her target, and that Vampire can sneak off for a late night feast in another Town.

The new entrances to Towns don't show up on your Map, so you will have to look around for them.

Hmm wasn't there already a mod like this? I swear it did the exact same thing. Not that I wouldn't want to see another approach to it :P

There was, but the entrances had map markers and weren't really hidden.

Hey Nic,good to see you, didn't know you were still around.:)

Yeah, but that shouldn't discourage him.
In fact, he could benefit from what has been done.

http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=3830 might be a nice inspiration.

Thanks for the info :)

The Entrances I've got done at the moment are not intended to be "hidden" so much as possible entrances for the observant-- these one's aren't so spoilery, so:

- Cheydinhal : In the walls of Cheydinhal, there are three metal Grates, through which the Water in the River flows-- you can now pass through each of these (presumably the grating is loose, and can be pulled away, letting you slip through).

- Leyawiin : Two new round Grates have been added to the walls of Leyawiin, operating like those in Cheydinhal.

- Bravil : The wooden Doors in the River. If you look in Vanilla Oblivion (best in the CS, due to the Camera angle, really), you'll see the water in Bravil river flows under them, since they have a gap beneath-- you can now squeeze through that gap to get in and out of Town. There are three such entrances.

- Anvil : A cavern beneath the Town, leading up to the Well, which you can climb in and out of. You will need Water Breathing to survive this path.

Other entrances planned:
Anvil: Possibly a crate: climb into the Crate at the Dock, and you will be taken into the Town; climb into the Crate in Town, and you will be taken out to the Dock.

Bruma : Bruma Caverns-style entrance, coming up into the Cathedral-- the idea being that the Cathedral was built with a secret exit, in case sensitive guests needed to be transported.

Chorrol : Nothing definitive yet.

Skingrad : Nothing definitive yet.

I noticed in the link Artfact provided, that someone suggested a Sewer System for the Towns-- that was one of the reasons I've chosen not to deal with the IC, but maybe I'll add something like that-- if anyone could let me know if there is already some kind of "Sewers" Mod, that'd be handy, since I DO want to avoid just "stealing" other people's ideas ;)
