Furnishing Tel Uvirith?

Post » Mon Jan 18, 2010 2:34 am

Hi,

I am currently playing the game with a Battlemage who joined and ascended the ranks of House Telvanni. So, I got the stronghold, Tel Uvirith, and got it completely upgraded (I'm now the Archmagister).

But. . .

I'm kind of disappointed with Tel Uvirith. The home of a mage should have an alchemy lab, with a workbench, ample storage for both ingredients and potion bottles, and several bookshelves (right now, I've got stacks of books lying around on the floor). Also, plenty of 'general storage' chests for weapons, armor, etc that I've collected.

I've been looking around and trying to decide on a mod or combination of mods to achieve what I want. There is a 'sticky' topic at the top of this forum, the Mods FAQ, which includes links to different lists/wikis of mods, which I've been looking through. Most of the mods I saw related to Tel Uvirith seem like they do more than I want - they turn the tower into a complete town, etc.

Can anyone recommend any good furniture mod, perhaps, which would allow me to just add some chests, a workbench, and some (working) bookshelves (by working, I mean that when I put books on the bookshelf, they stand up on end nicely, like the books in the various 'libraries' in the game, like the Library in Vivec?

I don't really know any mods that just furnish Tel Uvirith, since I'm not playing a Telvanni character, so you'll have to wait for someone more informed to.

You could check out Stuporstar's Uvirith's Legacy. It only modifies the tower itself and is quite good from what I've seen of it so far.

Yes, Uvirith's Legacy may do more than you want, but it focuses mainly on the interior with no exterior changes. Also, don't worry about the beta tag, with the small fixes available in the separate download, it's now completely stable (at least, I've received no bug reports in months since my last patch). It's actually very close to final release. I'm just adding some NPC schedules to the tower staff to spice things up a bit. UL adds a lot of stuff though, including a vault with a librarian who automatically sorts your books, automatic ingredient sorters (you have to complete a quest to get it though), and even a tower cook who gives you NoM food (which you can use for alchemy if you don't use NoM). If you want something far simpler, you could try the good old trusty Uvirith Unleashed, which is now a bit of a classic mod.

Also, for placing books in the game, you'll probably want to use Book Rotate. It's an excellent mod that allows you to place books at different orientations.

Thanks, I'll check it out (and Book Rotate). What is NoM?

That's Necessities of Morrowind, which adds the need to sleep, eat, and drink to the game.

Hmm, Realism doesn't always sound like much fun lol. Think I might skip on NoM. Once, awhile back, I thought about such a mod, in terms of thinking it might be cool, but the more I thought about it, the more I decided it just kind of sounded like yet one more thing to keep track of for my character, which wouldn't really add to the 'fun' of the game - just chores to do.

But, to a certain extent, I do roleplay like that a little bit - I rest more often than I *need* to (I mean, in 'stock' Morrowind, you can live on potions, and only rest to level up or recharge enchanted items, but of course, you could recharge from soul gems, which, if you have Azura's Star, means you can recharge whenever you want). So, I try to rest once a day, just for a certain level of realism, but not sure about eating and drinking.

Well, back to the topic at hand, anyhow. So, if I decide to try out NoM, then your mod is compatible with that. Good to know.

You can always take those meals and eat them, just as part of your roleplaying, without NoM loaded. I made each meal have a minor benefit to the player just by eating them (if your alchemy skill is high enough to trigger an ingredient effect through eating), which would be overwritten by NoM, but makes them worthwhile without NoM loaded as well. :)

Or you could always download Dave Humphrey's furniture store mod. I believe it's on PES. This allows you to buy all sorts of different furniture (bookshelves, display cases, wine racks, beds, banners, lights, chests, everything) and put it wherever you want.

Agreed. Even with a mod like mine installed, it's nice to be able to add your own personal touches to make the stronghold truly yours.

Yes, Uvirith's Legacy adds everything you asked for to Tel Uvirith, and much more. Alchemy lab? Check. Workbench? Check. Ingredient and potion storage? Check. Bookshelves? Check. Storage chests? Check. And not just chests, but display cases as well.

For the full Telvanni experience, you should also have:

1. Building Up Uvirith's Legacy: adds a town around Tel Uvirith, which you build step by step. When it's done, it's got all the services you'd find in an average Vvardenfell town. Smaller than Balmora or Sadrith Mora, but on a par with Caldera or Suran.

2. LGNPC Tel Uvirith: adds various small side quests involving the residents of Tel Uvirith, and changes their dialogue so it doesn't seem like they're all just clones of the same person.

3. Rise of House Telvanni: Turns the position of Telvanni Archmagister into, effectively, another Main Quest.
