Operation Anchorage, glitch still necessary?

Post » Tue Jan 19, 2010 4:26 pm

Hello, I finally started playing Fallout 3 again and yesterday I watched some videos on YouTube where people were doing some kind of glitch in the Operation Anchorage DLC. According to what I've understood, it was to keep all the weapons and armor from OA.

Is this still necessary for me to do when I'm gonna go there now?

And exactly why couldn't/can't you keep your armor/weapons unless you do this glitch? Will they just disappear from your inventory?

OA takes place in a simulation with simulated weapons. You aren't supposed to be able to keep them because they don't really exist.

You do get some stuff as a reward at the end, but the glitch apparently lets you keep the simulated weapons even in the real world.

Aha, then I get it. None of the videos described why to do the glitch, so I was kinda confused because of that. Now it makes sense.
Thanks ;)

The items you take out of the simulation are in perfect condition and never need to be repaired. Also a reason for the people who make use of the glitch.
(atleast the items have so much "health" that you won't notice them degrading)

If you are on a PC you don't need to do the glitch at all, since you can use the command console to get the loot and/or all the ammo you could ever want.

The sim versions of some of the weapons CAN visibly degrade, but that requires extensive use as the sole weapon to manage. This is most commonly seen with the Sniper or Gauss Rifle, since they have a high wear rate and tend to be the sole weapon for sneak-snipers.

In addition to the weapons and ammo you can bring home, it's the only way you can get Winterized Combat Armor if you want it. It doesn't appear in the reward armory at the end of the simulation.
