Favourite NPCs

I know, It's hard to name a few amongst the hordes of adorbale in one way or another NPCs of Oblivion, but let's try to acknowledge the brightest stars nonetheless

Here's my personal Hall of Fame (granted, I haven't heard everything that each NPC has to say yet) :

1. Lord Rugdumph - can't say anything about him since I'm Silenced and my Speechcraft has been Absorbed
2. Delphine Jend - creator of the celebrated spell Enemies Explode and Mage destined for great things, who teaches constructive use of Destruction
3. Reynald Jemane - quite capable of besmirching his good name on his own
4. sisters Serethi and mage Ancotar of Aleswell - because sometimes people who are invisible are trying to get some privacy
5. Arvena Thelas - patron and protector of rats
6. Owyn - Arena Blademaster and the most hilarious rumour teller
7. Otumeel - the best prankster in the whole Tamriel, legends of whom live and inspire aspiring pranksters even 200 years beyond his time in another province
8. Corvus Umbranox - adorable romantic til the end
9. S'Jirra - pie!
10.Leaving blank for a representative of the Dark Brotherhood

Most favorite is probably Modryn Oreyn. He tough but with an artistic side. He not pretentious with his simple iron curiass. Also I like the way his view of the Player Character changes as you go through the Fighter's Guild questline.

also...

Savlian of course. The true hero of Kvatch. He could have deserted in the face of overwhelming odds but he stood his ground an then some.

Arch Mage Traven for standing up for his believes. Even at a very high personal cost.

Lord Rugdumph gro-Shurgak because of his way with words

Yeah, I forgot to mention Modryn. His painting is priceless, and so is his Amulet of Interrogation with its combo of enchantments :D

I’ve seen this type of thread come up numerous times over the years here. Don’t get me wrong; I love answering this question every time and my answer is always the same as far as the top spot:

Savlian Matius. When it comes to a noble selfless hero, he is the gritty real deal.
Not to mention the fact that he completely stole Buffy’s heart.

My gregarious elf has many other wonderful friends though. . .

To name a few NPCs: Daenlin, Mazoga, Kud-Ei, Ardaline, Boderi Farano, Nilawen, Alawen, Tar-Meena, Sigrid, Agronak gro-Malog, Sinderion.

In her Journal, we are not bound by game constraints and have created numerous other characters to grace her world that she cares deeply about. These include Lucilius Marcus (Savlian’s second in command and successor at Kvatch), Thernd (stable master at Equestria located in the Valley of Horses beneath the University bridge), and Lady Odalys Goldwine (Countess of Kvatch and widow of Ormellius).

And finally, are the wonderful characters of other players that sometimes share or cross paths with Buffy. Their names include Lothran, Teresa, Maxical, Jerric, Aravi, Angel, Aradroth, to name a few. Many of these characters have been featured from time to time in Buffy’s fan fiction saga.

All these are off the top of my head. There are probably a few I'm forgetting.

Fave Male Imperial: any generic guard, especially IC and road patrols. A couple of my PCs got a crush on Keld of the Isles, but I personally think he's dumb as a rock, and not as useful as a rock can be.

Fave Female Imperial:  I'll get back on this one...

Fave Male Nord: Ongar the World Weary. I need a nap..hmmm

Fave Female Nord: Agnette the Pickled is up there. I'd hang with her I think, if I had to live in Cyrodil. we'd party and get drunk together, and discuss goblins and mudcrabs.

Fave Male Orc: LORD RUGDUMP. OMG i wish I could have him over to my next dinner party. The guy who runs the bookstore in Leyawin would make a close 2nd place. Buy a god-dam book! :lmao:

Fave Female Orc:: Mazoga. Of course. Yes Ma'am...uh..I mean Sir.

Fave Male Redguard: forget his name. The guy who shows up during KotN..hangs out at Luther Broad's. That's the one. He made me cry a little during a certain part of that quest. :touched:

Fave Female Redguard: Rasheda, I think. I forget. She runs the weapon shop in the Imperial City. I just like her for some reason.

Fave Male Breton: Hmm. Probably the Arch Mage. He just seems very kind, and
Spoiler
sacrifices himself...
during the Mage's Guild questline.

Fave Female Breton: This is gonna sound weird but I LOVE Breton Conjurer and Necromancer women. They just sound so b!thcy and serious as they're attacking us. I can't think of a named NPC, though.

Fave Male dark elf: Umbacano, probably. He gives my PCs lots of tasks and money. I always look forward to seeing him.

Fave Female dark elf: oooh...that lady who runs the alchemist's shop in Skingrad, without a doubt.

Fave Male high elf: not a clue. Fave Female high elf: can't think of any, atm.

Fave Male wood elf: the guy who runs the Archery shop in Bravil. Because a perfect arrow flies for ever. I'm xxxxx. And I have no perfect arrows.

Fave Female wood elf: [censored] my memory svcks.

Fave Male & Female Argonaians: Don't have any. The concept of lizards that speak plain English bothers me. I'd rather they be like goblins: in their own element. Sorry.

I'll throw in my favorite Argonians, then, Renee. :)

Favorite female Argonian is Druja, in the Skingrad Mages Guild. Most Argonian females are sweet, but Druja is feisty and tough.

Favorite male is definitely Big Head, in SI. In fact, he's one of my favorite characters in any game I've ever played.

Sorry! I know people are gonna hate me for saying that. Ah well, can't please everyone.

I like Skyrim Argonians much more. They're not so "civilized", you see. Same goes with orcs.

Umbacano is a High Elf (Altmer) not a Dark Elf (Dunmer).

So for favorite dark elf male, may i suggest Modryn.

Falanu Hlaalu is the proprietor of "All Things Alchemical" in Skingrad. She seem quite persistent to set up a successful shop. And she seems quite interest in matters of law.

Thank you, Savilian. Wow, all this time I thought he's a dark elf. He certainly acts like one. Just kinda uppity or something.

Everyone in the Shivering Isles, but especially:

- Sheogorath. Joint first with Haskill for best dialogue in the game. Better MQ head than Martin by a factor of ten billion.
- Haskill, Sheogorath's chamberlain and master of deadpan sarcasm.
- Cutter, sado-masocistic goth smith wood elf.
- Thaedil, the bipolar juggler.
- Runs-In-Circles
- Syl, paranoid and vindictive Duchess of Dementia. She has an awesome dress.

So many to choose from! Here's a small list:

Raminus Polus. He's dedicated to the Guild, and is nice at the same time.

Fimmion. Suh-weeeet-roll!

Countess Arriana Valga. A very polite, down-to-earth woman.

Syl. Absolutely paranoid ...

Dar-Ma. I still remember the first time she approached me, on my first trip to Chorrol.

And many others, of course. They're just the most notable :)

I’ve seen this type of thread come up numerous times over the years here.

I know, it's a popular kind of thread, and it's popular for a reason :) I don't recall seeing one actively running ever since I'm visiting Oblivion forum section (since this March) though, so I risked to post one because I wanted to bow down to the writers of NPCs and highlight a few NPCs in particular, as well as to see who are favourite NPCs of other players and why.

@Solitudian Raminus Polus should have been the next Archmage. Well, in my Archmage's game he technically is, minus the title, but I'd gladly pass it on Raminus if I could.

@Renee I love Argonians, my Dragonborn (or rather Dragonkin) was an Argonian, but in Oblivion I hesitated to start an Argonian because they look weird dressed in embroidered velvet, so to speak. But after a lot of thinking, I decided that my mage assassin (custom class Lizassin) will be an Argonian after all due to the most fitting racials for the kind of character I want to play. And Lizeera doesn't wear velvet and silk, and she doesn't look very human and isn't likeable at all - I intentionally keep her Personality at base 30, and she gets to hear a lot of racial insults and to see angry faces :)

Favourite NPC?

SHEOGORATH!

@Renee; No Khajiit on the list? Now even Maiq?

Callidus: I forgot all about cat-people. I knew I forgot at laest one race.

I'm gonna fire up Oblivion tonight when it gets dark outside, actually, and give a little thought to it before I just blurt an answer.

Liz: It's not so much that i hate Argonians, it's the way they're portrayed in TES: IV that I dislike. I prefer seeing lizardmen (and orcs, for that matter) as portrayed in the classic stories and RPGs: fierce, fearsome, and scary. :cold: Seeing them run stores (as funny as it can be) and wearing finely-tailored clothes is....

..you get the point, I think. I don't wanna go down this path too much, pretty soon the entire forum will turn against me.

So many to choose from!

Exactly. That's why I split my answer into races & sixes...it's impossible for me to choose just one answer.
