A High Elf and Marksman

Hey i was just curious if it was possible to make a High Elf that has a solid combination of the bow and magic. almost to those of the regular "witchhunter" class. i know they are gifted particularly with magic and i know as well the dark elf would be a better option. but i have some good roleplaying ideas, so any help would be great. thanks!

Of course it is. I call such a character a mystic archer and mine won't touch blades, blunts, h2h, or staves. Only a bow, backed up with magic.

She's a wood elf who's built like a glass cannon, but any race will work fine.

Yes, any sort of elf would work great as a combination of bow and magic. I am currently using a +5 built dark elf blade / mage.
This character is great for role play hybrid builds. Blade, bow and magic all fit wonderfully well with his Dunmer background.

I see that you have darkelf as your forum name, so the transition should be smooth.

Bosmers are the best archers and when they combine illusion magic to their play style they are very dangerous.
Acadian's elf-maiden is one of the best archers in the land.

If you prefer High Elf, then by all means give it a go. It is bound to work.

You can do anything with a character of any race in Oblivion. It is one of the nice things about this game. Your High Elf would have an advantage as a Mystic Archer, as they will have that extra Altmer magicka. Playing a mystic archer, their weaknesses to elemental magic would be somewhat less of a problem, since presumably you will always be attacking at range from stealth. So you should rarely be hit by anything.

The races only determine the starting stats. Any character can get to the same end results - it just takes more or less effort to get there. It's fun to start a character that is challenged in some area and work to make up for it, so I'm currently playing a female Orc and trying to build her Personality - that being the lowest starting stat for any race/gender at only 25. If this one works out, then I may try to build a Dunmer Nun!

I'm using an Altmer Mystic Archer, so it is possible. (Almost any class, or something like that is possible to make.)

Like others have already stated you can pretty much make your characters into whatever you want them to be. I tend to think that with games like TES or Fallout the players character would be somewhat more unique than the archetypes you are given during character creation. It just seems more fitting because of the tasks they have to complete in the game world, that no normal entity would be capable of finishing.
So yeah, a High Elf sniper style PC would be perfectly acceptable as well as a holy Ork knight or a Dark Elf fighter that had more in common with a walking tank than the stereotypical rouge/thief.

It is possible! I have tried it a few times with a female High Elf myself actually. =) I have tried different races and it seems they are all able to become whatever you wish to be. It just depends on how much effort you are willing to give to making the character to whatever you want him/her to be. Sometimes, it may require some effort to overcome racial weaknesses, but it is possible! =D

Well, I'm using a Nord archer for my current character. I'm already at level 15 and it's going fine. I think a High Elf should be OK too. :)
