Who killed Llathansa Indarys?

I think it could be the Dark Brotherhood since it is stated that the Count knows of their existence in Cheydinhal but kept quiet because of bribes and threats. Killng his wife could be a warning.

I think that the Count was having an affair, but his wife found out and was going to besmirch his good name, so he hired the Dark Brotherhood to kill her. However, they used this killing as leverage to manipulate the Count into giving them a base in Cheydinhal, as well as money and resources.

I think he shoved her down the steps and killed her himself.

I think the Count wanted her dead, so he had the Dark Brotherhood kill her. Probably because she insisted he get a real haircut. As Broken-Scale said, now he is their [censored] because of it.

This I believe too. Seems very plausible

Very plausible. It's kind of like "we can get to your wife so we can get to anyone else, including you or your son".

Sort of like an Elder Scrolls version of a horses head in the Count's bed.

This, pretty much, sounds reasonable.

I made a quest that's about her in Kragenir's Death Quest. Takes a little creative spin on the rumor, but the count and the DB are involved. And stairs.

Some rumours from townspeople already say that the Count is a philanderer, so I would think the Countess would have known about this long ago. No reason for her to get so worked up and get herself killed if it is old news.

I suspect it was the Dark Brotherhood. Maybe he wanted to root them out, but they siced an assassin on her and said "Continue searching for us, you'll meet the same grisly fate as she did."

Why would the Count murder his own wife? There's a flower on her former throne in the Great Hall for Azura's sake! To me, it implies that he really did love her.

Its most likely just an act. There's dozens of murders where the murderer was the husband of the murdered, and the husband is grieving and acting all sad, whereas he really did it. Why can't it be any different here?

Well, I guess I just don't see a motive. Sure he has the means and opportunity, but what's the motive?

Well she had one of the stupidest characters in the game as a son, so I figure he had the DB off her so as to avoid having any more kids with her, and then summoned Mehunes Dagon to open :obliviongate: s all over Tamriel as a cover up for getting rid of the kid. He's actually planning to marry the Dark Elf female who doesn't believe in worshipping Gods, as she seems to be the only one in the city with a clue.

Playing Oblivion on PC, and being a KDQ addict, Povuholo's is my accepted version of the tale. I'll not spoil anything by saying more than the master himself chose to divulge.
