I just woke up from a 6 year nap....

I haven't played Morrowind since the release of Oblivion. Even then it was on XBox

Considering a fresh purchase/install of GOTY. I have a couple questions for the mod community. I apologize in advance as I assume these have all been answered before but some of the answers I've seen in my searches are inconsistent.

1. Considering purchasing via Steam. I have read there are some mod conflicts... bad enough to find another option... or manageable?
1a. If you do recommend a non-steam version for heavy modding purposes, Steam is charging $19.99 for GOTY, anyone know of a better deal that is direct download?

Reading http://www.mwmythicmods.com/telesphoros.htm is what has me in the mood to install and play the crap out of this game and experience as many great mods as possible.

Is there a giant download somewhere that has someone's Top 20 or "essential" mods all included in a simple to install executable that would work easily with a fresh install?

If not, that is okay, there seems to be enough good information that people have worked to produce that I should be able to get through this... any 'must have' recommendations for mods and/or other resources similar to http://www.mwmythicmods.com/starting.htm#basics would be appreciated.

Thanks!

I use Steam but I would hesitate to buy MW through Steam if you're interested in modding because it doesn't include the Construction Set. If you don't already have a PC copy, it's going to be difficult to get the CS because it's not downloadable from Beth like the Oblivion CS.

BTW: here's a good site to get you started on graphical improvements.

I play with Better Bodies and Better Heads, as well as a few furniture mods.
Morrowind Comes Alive and CM Partners are also really good. I made a mod, myself, which adds a soldier office to hire mercenaries. Really rudimentary, but super-fun. If someone else has made a mod like it, it would be great.

Ask 30 people who are the essential, must-have mods, and you'll get 30 different answers. So basically, decide what categories of mods are most important to you--ease of use, new shops, companions, texture replacements, city replacements, new weapons, race/birthsign overhauls etc-- then check out those categories up on PES and Elric's. Read the opinions there, and ask here about specific mods. You'll get a lot more intelligent, focused replies that way.

You can get the Construction Set for Steam http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29388 (this is a link from the CS forum stickies). The only other issue I've heard of is to make sure the plugins you get from Steam are dated correctly.
I think Pluto's http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1060141-mod-recommendations-for-new-players/ is a very good place to start your mod exploration.

That's not true, because it does include TES CS with a http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29388 and read also this http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1113805.
That Steam patch is not working with the orginal Morrowind GOTY version.

Some one was also suggested to buy the Morrowind GOTY for €19.99, but here is a better choice to be made for a copy of the http://www.gamesas.com/redirect.php?site=http://store.steampowered.com/sub/1683/ €34.99 on Steam.

I didn't realize that had been fixed. Thanks for the info.
