[RELz] Food/Drink - no more healing

Post » Tue Jan 26, 2010 8:56 pm

I got sick playing this game on hardcoe, never needed to use stims or visit the doc - healing thru eating was sufficient

Thats now over.
You have to use your stims now, and when their gone you need more. But they are expensive now.
I recommend the optional component, but if you you just wanna go for no healing - its your call

If you're gonna play this mod, please give me some feedback. Ill test it the coming weekend extensively, but other opinion are preferable

Survival skill is pretty much obsolete now, but who cares :D If you dont like food healing(and thats why your here, right?) , you dont like survival

Food and Drink and Meds / Barter
by Mr.Moe

###################
Short description: ###
####################
removes health component from Food and Water. Raises vendore prices for clean water and meds, especially stims
optional: little barter overhaul

##############
Installation:####
##############

Extract archive with 7zip or something similar
copy those .esp files in the following folder
Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\Data\

load just ONE of them with the FNV launcher, you may delete the unused one

not that short description:##

I hope I found all the food and drinks, I removed the healing effect to make stims and Doctors more usefull

Nuka Cola and Beer lowers thirst instead of increasing it, not as much as tasty water though
Purified Water costs 100% more caps (40, instead of 20, but even more trough the optional barter skill changes.

to not make Sunset Sarsaparilla useless it gives a short luck buff (soft drink, feel good effect) and restores some dehydration

Dehydration makes you weak, maybe you should loose some luggage

Drugs are more expansive now. its still cheap, so I recommend my optional Food-Drink-Barter.ESP

Vanilla New Vegas:
Barter skill 1 -> Selling at 45% of value, Buying at 155% of value.
Barter skill 100 -> Selling at 90% of value, Buying at 110% of value.

New Settings
Barter skill 1 -> Selling at 17.5% of value, Buying at 255% of value.
Barter skill 100 -> Selling at xx% of value, Buying at xxx% of value. Im not exactly sure. ^^ See screenshots and do the math
I changed the barter impact, each barter point grants a greater discount then vanilla NV

A thought. Maybe not remove healing properties from all food, but retain (perhaps reduce) healing properties for those concocted via recipies. This way, survival skill would not be nerfed.

I like this mod, I think it would be nice if also foot is a lot more expensive and cannot be found this easily in the wasteland. This would make the survival skill more useful, if the requirements for simple foot like fried meat where lowered though.

I think thats pretty much impossible.

1. there a lots of critters where you can loot meat.
2.Even if you decrease the container loot, theres still tons of stuff available

So if I make it more expansive you can easily sell the surplus for a nice profit.

Im using the HC mode ofc and Arwens tweaks (carry weight!) to balance this out.
A typical char can only carry 150 pounds. Theres not much room for a weekly food and water supply

Maybe survival could increase the restorefood value further, but still it wouldnt be worth the skill points :sadvaultboy:

As i suggested on Arwen's thread, you could have the survival skill affect what and how much "nature" loot you get. that way, you'll still need survival skill to harvest plants, skin animals, etc.

Ok, I was not talking about reducing the "nature" food but the pre-war food, so that people need to harvest plants or hunt some critters to get something in their belly... ;)
