I think that's the difference between the Americans and the rest of us. We've grown to accept that in football referees make mistakes and that we can't do anything about it so if something happens we might [censored] about it a little, but then we calm down about it pretty fast. Americans apparently don't.

Well, the quality of refs will never go up until everyone starts demanding it. To be fair, there have been some excellent crews at this Cup, but some of the others........

Also, its time to nuke Ghana. Two Cups in a row.......

ENGLAND-GERMANY!!!

That's gonna be a hell of a match, but if England keep playing like they did in the group stage Germans will totally kick their butts.

Man, diving just seems the 'in' thing to do in Ghana now huh? :P

Close game. Not happy with the results but oh well. Go Germany! :hehe:

Congrats to both teams but especially Ghana.

Yeah. Because Ghana acctually won. ;)

I'm quite pleased with the result. It's nice to see an african team advance in the african world cup.

Whatever meager interest I had in that sport and event just evaporated.

So you're saying that the game Ghana played was more akin to rugby?

Well, if your interest in the sport was so fickle, it probably didn't need you anyway.

Congrats to Ghana, unlucky for the USA though, they've been pretty inspiring in this tournament. I feel they've played well above their means for most of the tournament, would have been tremendous for them to make the quarters.

All right, but why the ":meh:" smiley?

Ah, I suppose it's about this:

Eh, I don't know why I expected better.

Exactly :P

But yeah, I'm bricking it now we're next on. It sounds silly but I really want us to do well now, especially after missing Euro 2004 and our recent record against 'big teams'. The only one's we've had success against have been the Old Enemies (Germany and Argentina) so if that can continue in the next 2 games I'll be a happy chappy.

Well, I am American, and Ghana just won. And yes Ghana deserved it, but I think I am going to recede for a bit while I cope with a slightly disappointing performance by the US.

You really need to get that chip off of your shoulder. You don't foster interest by being rude.

Looks like the Germans are taking a few injuries though, Schweinsteiger looking doubtful, which is great for us. He's evolved into a really good midfield player since he moved in off the wing, really vital in the heart of that German midfield. Need to do a job on Ozil as well, everything good goes through him.

No penalties I hope though.

Ah, I see. I was rude, yes.

This isn't worth debating and getting a ban over, thank you very much.

I fancy us on penalties. I'll be damned if Gerrard, Lampard, Ashley Cole, Barry and Milner aren't as good as any 5 England have had for penalties ever. We just need them all on the pitch for the shoot-out now.

Edit: I dunno, I wouldn't be exactly gracious after my team get knocked out in extra-time and I'm a 'proper' fan with a 'proper' attitude.

All due respect to the US team and the people who supported them but is it time for ''Oh well we didn't like soccer anyway'' from the US now? Already got a little bit of that during the game with England earlier on in the world cup.

I hope the English aren't actually aiming for penalty shoot-outs, because that will be a disaster for them. Not the penalties, but playing with that attitude.

Don't worry about that. I may be confident about penalties but if there is anything the players and the country dread, it is penalties.
