Does using mods affect achievements in any way?

Post » Wed Jan 27, 2010 7:55 am

Let me preface this by saying that on the whole, I don't give a [censored] about achievements.

That being said, I wouldn't mind being able to grab all of them over time.

Will using mods prevent gaining achievements, like certain console commands do?

Thanks.

Nope, just don't use console commands.

I suppose it would depend on the mod.

I'm using a couple of small mods and on playthroughs where I haven't neded or accidently opened the console I've recieved achievements.

We may have to wait for the larger mods with big gamechanging features before we know for certain.

Eh? What console commands negate achievements? I've used several since the beginning of my play-through, and I haven't noticed any lack of achievements (and have noticed that I still keep getting them).

Any console command, even tm, tfc, and tcl seems to disable achievements for that play session. If you use the console to unstick yourself then complete a quest, no achievement but if you unstick yourself, close out the game, restart and then finish the quest- achievement.

Using a mod like a skeleton key will disable achievements for that session if you use the key. I imagine any mod that adds an item to the player's inventory through a script would do the same.

So even when I use a manual save throught the console (`save "") will cancel achievements for that play session? Bummer, i've been using `temo to get rid of facial emotions to get a better framerate in busy places.

No wonder I only have one achievement after 40 hours play :brokencomputer:

Yep, svcks :/ Same thing happened to me. According to my achievements, I beat the game on hardcoe without ever reaching level 10, acquiring a companion or... well you get the idea. It's such a random and pointless limitation too. I mean, I guess you don't necessarily want achievements when you're testing things but console use isn't necessarily any sign of that, especially harmless commands like save.

However.. Placing all your console commands into a file and doing it as a bat does not disable achivements from my testing.

Could someone make a mod with a simple menu to do the more common bug-fixing commands?

Like a simple inventory item that would allow you to toggle collision on and off for the player in order to get out of being stuck without messing up your achievements?

Yeah I was wondering why I didn't get the hardcoe achievement.

a little offtopic, but I laughed at your sig. I agree, but they just need to hire better testers.
