[RELZ] MCA 5.2 Performance & Attack Tweak

Post » Fri Jan 29, 2010 5:44 am

This mod is to give you control over MCA and how it affects your playstyle and your computer.

I know that one of the big gripes about Morrowind Comes Alive is being attacked in towns and respawning npc's and creatures.

Also for computer performance reasons you may want to reduce some of the characters in towns. This can help with that too.

The leveled lists in Morrowind work on a "chance none" feature. I have adjusted the percentages from 0% to 25%, 50%, 75%, 90% and 100%.
100% will effectively turn off the list.

This is only a tweak for Morrowind Comes Alive. It will not work without it.
No screens shots because this only affects the random chance of NPC's showing up.

Thanks, good tweak. I always thought that MCA had a little too many thugs & footpads openly trying to attack people (well, me) in front of guards to be realistic.

Thanks, Sandman!

What are the default percentages for NAg and Ag?

Thanks, Sandman!

What are the default percentages for NAg and Ag?

You will have to choose one esp from each folder. I didn't set up any default installation. Mix and match to your desire.

Got that, but I would like to know the MCA default values just for the purpose of comparison.

From the "At least read this" note in the download.

Most all of MCA's stock lists are set to 0%
City attacks are already set to 80% in the stock lists.

A few lists are higher but not many (maybe 10). Until the stock percent is higher that the one I change it to, I don't mess with it.
So there may be a 50% one in the NAg 25%, but that's because it's a stock list.
Does that help?

I actually made this for myself and decided to share.
I know I haven't been around here. I have my reasons and I don't expect it to change.
I can probably be reached easiest at http://www.fliggerty.com/phpBB3/portal.php

So, will this decrease the number of hostiles? I don't mind getting attacked in towns, but the staggering numbers of footpads and thugs are pretty obnoxious.

Just now my level 4 wizard got attacked by 8 (yes I counted them) footpads in Balmora, all in one big group, all with big enchanted weapons (spears, warhammers, claymores). After 6 reloads, they all died, but they took 3 guards with them, and I accidentally killed most of the citizens with my spells (and had to continuously shell out money mid-battle to keep from being arrested while I was being attacked). In the end all the hostiles were killed, but I used up all my potions, scrolls, enchanted items, and magicka to kill them. The battle lasted most of the (in-game) day. At the end the entire town was littered with bodies. This is something I'd expect from a military coup or slave uprising, but...footpads? No.

All I wanted to do was sell some alchemy ingredients at Nalcarya's. This incident almost made me obliterate MCA forever from my hard drive, it was so annoying. A footpad or two attacking from the shadows in a dark alleyway is acceptable. But an army of thugs destroying an entire town...way too much.

Depending on your choices of esp's...Yes it can. The city attacks are set to 80% in MCA by default. From the "CA" folder, 90% will slow them down and 100% will turn them off.

Too bad Neoptolmus never finished v6.0 as he said he would. It sure would be nice to see what improvements he made.

Yeah, it would. But 5.2 hasn't been updated since 08-20-2007. So I figure this needed to be made.

Just to point out, http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=7765 I had completed mine. It also alters the city attacks. So, If you want to use this instead to change the city attacks. It will work also. But it will conflict with the esp's in the "CA" folder of my mod.
