I tried doing the glitch where you can get a permanent 50-point bonus to your acrobatics skill by committing a crime while wearing the Boots of Springheel Jak, going to jail, and doing your jail time, but it didn't work. I did the same thing with the Draconian Madstone and it worked, giving me a total of 80% poison resistance (I had another item with a resist poison enchantment equipped) and 73% disease resistance, but nothing with the Boots of Springheel Jak. (I'm also running all the unofficial patches.)

I looked on the UESP Wiki and didn't find anything in the page on the unofficial patches about fixing this glitch.

same thing happened to me. i decided to keep the boots instead, nearly as good as the permanent bonus.

The critical part of the quest item glitch is that it has to be done while it's a quest item. If you wore the boots to jail after they stopped being a quest item (i.e. after the quest where you give them to the Grey Fox) then they aren't stuck in your inventory and won't do the glitch for you. So to get the boost permanently you'd have to be jailed when carrying them back to Cheydinhal. Any other time wouldn't work. IIRC neither the Arrow or the Boots are quest items during the Ultimate Heist (or after).

I wore the boots before giving them to the Gray Fox and it still didn't work!
