The Reacher

Post » Mon Feb 01, 2010 12:10 pm

So while playing Halo Reach, and getting a triple kill-revenge combo, it beamed on me "What if I could make a character who snaps necks and slits throats for a living?" And I dont mean assassinations, I mean straight in, punching and stabbing til someone's entrails are lining the battlefield

Class Name: Reacher
Best Race: ??
Best Birthsign: The Warrior/Lady
Specialization: Combat
Attributes (2): Strength
Major Skills:
1. HtH
2. Athletics
3. Acrobatics
4. Light Armor
5. Blade
6. Heavy Armor
7. ??

As you can see, I'm missing two details, and I'd like some input and help making it better

I have a build like that this is what I went for.
Orc, Strength, intelligence, warrior, Blade, block, heavy armour, light armour, athletics, blunt, conjuration.
Its on a modded game but I presume the same principles would apply, just go for light silvered weapons against immune foes and casters, and heavy blunts against most others.
Edit: Oh and turn undead is a must later on.

I already have an Orcish character, so I want to stray away
To make it more clear, He's supposed to believe magic is for the weak, so is ranged combat too. So then, I'm still stuck on the racial part
Was thinking about a redguard, so I can implement minor stealth tactics.
Any other suggestions?

I think the best race would be Nord as they're most like the Spartans. I don't think it's a good idea to specialize in both Light and Heavy Armor. Just stick to one, preferably Heavy. So that opens up two spots in Major Skills list. Have Restoration in one of them, as the Spartans shields regenerate, and maybe put in Block for combat purposes, although Spartans can't exactly block, it will be more useful in-game. If not that, then Marksman, because Spartans do plenty of shooting..

Kind of redundant with Light and Heavy Armor as well as Hand to Hand and Blade.

I agree with the Light/Heavy Armor bit, but he chose HtH and Blade both because Spartans use their fists, and Energy Swords, so blade is required. (They use Gravity Hammers too, so perhaps Blunt should be added.

Halo spartans ya. Id say do heavy with blade and hand to hand but obly use hand to hand sparingly or in spots where it won't get you killed easily. Adding armorer would be logical since spartans armor doesn't degrade overtime. For the last skill id day alteration maybe.

If you wanted to be a historical spartan tho id say Heavy Armor. Blade. Armorer. Block. Athletics. Acrobatics and probably alchemy since there was no magic back then. Endurance and strength with the warrior birthsign. So default warrior I believe minus blunt and hand to hand(spartans wore heavy armor and used spears and swords). Could use restoration to simulate healing with bandages but no offensive magic. Enchant armor with fortify health or fatigue. Enchant weapon with damage/absorb health/fatigue. Not sure how you would rp one and recharge your weapon tho. Could play around with thebonus attributes I guess.

Where does Alteration come in with Halo Spartans?

As for historical Spartans, they didn't wear armor, and were pure warriors so no alchemy, HtH would be more suited to their skillset. Also, what do you mean by 'no magic back then'? Are you implying magic exists these days, but not then?

They wore some armor not much. Alchemy would be like bandages. The alteration would be for shield how Halo Spartans have recharging energy shields. Touche haha you caught be on the magic thing. They did use spears and shields and if they had to ditch the spears they used shortswords.

I'm against the alchemy part, and unless I can find a low-cost long-lasting decent shield, then I wont consider alteration. I figure that the grenades can be solved by a destruction spell, maybe I can use Flare? Or maybe if I level it up, buy an area-fire spell?

You can make a shield spell at AU that lasts up to like 2 minutes. You could make an AOE fire spell but youd need pretty high destruction skill for it to work unless its low damage.

Looks good to me, I'd take Acrobatics over Athletics tho so you can get the shield dodge thing earlier unless you plan on using two handers. I'm a big fan of blade over blunt but thats just personal preference.

I think he means the thing where you can roll out of harm's way. But, I thought it worked no matter what type of weapon you used. Its one of the perks you get for having a high Acrobatics skill.

When you have 50 in Acrobatics you gain an ability where you can do a barrel roll in any direction if you press jump while blocking.

Ya and its faster than running too I believe. And its also a good excuse to say 'do a barrel roll'

Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo Wars.

If you want general FPS; CoD 3, CoD 4, CoD WaW, CoD MW2.
