I too had a YLOD whilst playing New Vegas, but it wasn't caused directly by the game...so you can hardly blame Obsidian.
Check out some guides on Youtube and they'll show you how to fix the problem if you're up to it, although it's only a temporary fix as this is the second time its YLOD'ed.
I've had over 50 crashes, I turned off my PS3 using the rear switch and I've had it since the launch. 4-5 years 60 gig model. And you're saying ONE crash busted your 1 year old machine? Kinda hard to believe.
Either I'm the luckiest bastard alive, or you're unlucky. My PS3 is working perfectly since the beginning.

I wouldn't say one crash killed it, I lost track around 20 or 30.
