Corprus Cure bug

Post » Thu May 26, 2011 11:44 pm

The corprus disease of my character got to the point of -2 for certain attributes and +2 for certain attributes and when I was cured off the disease, certain attributes still remained at -1 of their value and others remained at +1 of their value. I reloaded and tried to get cured again, but the same problem occured. Using restoration, I'm able to increase my negative stats to their correct values, but what can I do about my positive stats, preferably as cheaply as possible? Are there decrease attribute on self spells available? How much would they cost? I am playing the PC version, but the console doesn't work for me(Vista), so I can't use that, but perhaps there is a fix for that. I'll try to find it. If I end up not figuring out how to use the console, though, any help would be appreciated.

First, buy any drain attribute spell (http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Destruction_Spells#Drain_Attribute). Find an npc who offers the "spellmaking" service and create a custom spell with the desired attributes drained on self. Remove anything that fortifies those attributes, then cast the spell.

Some Vista console issues can be solved, see the pinned Vista thread in the hardware/software issues section. If that doesn't work, your best bet is Morrowind Graphics Extender. Its macro feature can be used to set a new console key.

Why would you want to reduce the fortified attributes? I know of some people that will go on doing other stuff for as long as possible before getting the cure, just so they have the + to the attributes.

But if you still wanna reduce the attributes, you could go pick a fight with a Bonewalker. A Lessor or standard Bonewalker have a Drain Strength and Endurance attacks while the Greater Bonewalker has a Damage Strength and Endurance attacks. If you fight the Greater Bonewalker just make sure you can restore your strength enough to get to a shrine that removes the damage spell effect.

Role-playing and anti-cheating(what I feel is cheating, anyway) reasons are why. Since I am my character and since I wouldn't want to be stuck with a disease, I get rid of it as soon as possible. Since I want to only obtain what I earn, and I want to reduce my stats to what they are supposed to be. I fixed the problem, though, using custom drain attribute on self spells, and the whole thing(buying an attribute damaging spell, making two more, and getting any needed potions while using my restore attribute spells) only costed 89 gold.
