Help with PS3 game save ?!?!

Post » Fri Feb 05, 2010 8:32 am

I was wondering if anyone has had this problem before ?

HEre is my story, hopefully a Bethesda Softworks will read this or any member on the forum who might be able to help me out !

Upon release of fallout New vegas i decided to rent the game for 7 days, I got up to level 24 in a matter of 6 days... after a couple of weeks past i decided to purchase the game, i completly stopped playing until today.

I decided to go out and purchase the game....

So here i was all excited to get back into game playing when after loading the bluray i notice an Update was taking place :(

After the update, the game somewhat had to be REINSTALLED ( WHY I WAS WONDERING ?? ) it was installed with my rental...

After trying to load my previous game from the rented game i notice that i CANT... so i started a new game intill i was able to save again. I saved, exited the game and went into my PS3 saves option where i noticed that the Saves from the rented game where US (United States ) and the ones from the game that i bought where CA ( Canada ) !!!!!

Does this mean i cannot play on my old files ? A save for the same game is a safe for the same game, why the @#$% can't i load my old game !!!

I have 2 pictures showing the different saves, - CA and US - but i am unable to upload the pics to the website...

Any help regarding this issue would be really appreciated.

Thank you for reading

Fallout NV is region locked. I'd say return your game and get a US version, rather than a Canadian one.
I had somewhat the same problem when I downloaded the bonus free DLC. The CA version was advertised as french only (my game was i english and
I don't like to play traduced products) So I downloaded the US version. Then, when I started the game, the DLC was missing. I tried to dowload the CA version,
Which was 2 times bigger than the US version and played it. It worked, seems like the DLC was both french and english. But its region locked in the sense that your save data and
DLC as to be from the same place as your game.

You should post there, 8 pages of problems and issues. Put everything together is better if we want Bethesda to pay attention.

Thank you for the fast reply...

I will head out first thing in the afternoon and rent out the same copy i did when the game lauched to see if this will fix my bug. I will then post and reply see if this helps, hoping that maybe someone else has this issue, I was reading on Gamespot about someone having the same issue but he as you downloaded a US DLC, i just don't know from where or how to install it ?

Thanx again

I don't think region locking has anything to do with your problem.
To the best of my understanding, PS3 games are not region coded. Blu-ray movies are but not games.

Besides, the U.S. and Canada are in the same region. I lived in Vancouver for five years and my PS3 came from Futureshop as did most of my games. I've been playing NV without problem ... well, aside from the same freezing/crashing so many of us are experiencing ... and I've also been playing my save file (created on my 60gb PS3 bought in Canada) on my friends brand new 160gb slim he just got at Best Buy here in Washington.

If you happen to be in Quebec, I guess it's possible you rented an EU version of the game? That might be a problem considering that you're downloading the NA version of the patch. If that's the case, what you could try is creating a EU PS3 account. It would be the same as a lot of us have done so that we can download Japanese demos. Just make a new account using any address in, say, London or something. That might allow you to get the EU version of the patch. It might not, though, as have no idea if the PSN is connected to the way patches are distributed or if it's determined by IP address. That's how movie sites are blocked in Canada due to the weird TV/film laws there. LOL.

Anyway, please follow that link Malakar posted and keep everyone updated.
I, for one, am curious as to how it works out for you. Hopefully, you'll be back in New Vegas soon.

Thank you for the reply...

so as i mentionned in the previous post, i went out to the videostore in which i rented the game at first, unfortunetly the game was rented out... then again i took the time to check the box ( ENGLISH WRITING ONLY US ) of New Vegas and i noticed there was no french writing compared to my game that i bought at Blockbuster ( FRENCH WRITING WITH ENGLISH WRITING CA )

I went to see the clerk and i asked him where he bought his game, from what he told me his copy was shipped from the United states, apperently all his games are from there.

Its wierd that a simple saved game will not let someone play from a different location. It is honestly ridiculous, the worst part about this is that i was clueless that this will happen. Now i know !

It would be awesome if Berthesda could somewhat release a patch for this, I seen other people having this issue...

Only thing that i can do now is either start a new game ( which i won't do ) or wait for the copy at the video store to exchange CD's its my best bet and thats exactly what i will do. Hopefully no one else rents out that game cause they will have a nice suprose just like me !
