Terminal Hacking issue

Post » Sun Feb 07, 2010 11:30 am

Not sure if it's been addressed or not, but this system. Fat PS3 40 gig. cannot access hacking a computer. the sound effects occur, but the display never shows up to begin hacking the terminal.

I have a friend that has this system and he can "hack" without issue.

I have the same problem occasionally on a first gen Slim PS3 120gb. It doesn't ALWAYS happen, though. Sometimes I will begin the terminal access, the screen dims in the background but doesn't bring up anything. I get the sound effects and if I back out, the screen restores. Sometimes accessing it again fixes it.

Have had the same occasional problem with the PipBoy itself.

i have had the same issues and i have the fat40 gig, but i replaced the HDD with a 250gig. I've noticed that i have the problem with desktop terminals and not with wall mounted terminals.

I have the same problem, I have a FAT 80GB PS3. But it seems to only happenon the "Very Easy" Terminals for me, asI have had success on other terminals, but thos marked "Very Easy" don't display after they have been activated. Maybe they should just mark them as "Very Impossible" In any case, this needs fixed....another unnacceptable glitch.

try deleting the buttons save file in ur save file folder and leave the buttons as default, that fixed it for me, of course don't delete while your playing

The model of PS3 is irrelevant to the problem.

What?

in your "ps3 saves folder" under fallout new vegas, it contains all of your save files plus 2 files that look like holotapes. well one holotape file says "config" and the other says .....something else i can't remember exactly what it says but it's basically the file that saves you button configurations.

for example: i like to use "X" to jump, but by default jump is set to "triangle", and default "R1" is to shoot.

I see. Is it really necessary to take such a technical approach, versus simply changing your controller settings in-game?

Heurm, no need to change all the specifications of your ps3 dude, just reload the game. That's what I do when it happens to me, I save before entering the terminal, and reload when this happens to me. Always worked fine for me.

I think the only button assignment that causes the issue is changing the "O" for pipboy to whatever other button. cause i changed the "X" and the "triangle" and all was fine, but when i reassigned the "O" that's when I get the problem.

Trust me Malakar i tried everything that i could find online, that was a possible solution until i came across this one option. For whatever reason it would only happen on desktop terminals. but i got used to having "triangle" as my pipboy from FO3, so i was screwed from the get go.

I've seen that when i enter the hack, and cant press X and go directly to the hacking.
But i have to wait before it's done typing the stupid codes and everything

This also finally fixed it for me, after i fiddled for a while. I had originally changed my key bindings to have O = action, and X = Jump. Since O is also defined as the cancel button I believe that it was causing an error. I changed my key-bindings back to default, and that has corrected all issues with terminals for me. I'll just have to get used to O being the jump button for now... So those with Fat 40gigs just keep default button configuration settings, unless they have corrected the issue since I first posted this thread.
