Chapter 5
Paradise Falls
___________
I slammed the bottle to the ground, still angry from the incident from the previous day. The others stared at me from around the fire. "Look, man, you got your revenge. So what if the colonel got away? It's no big deal, we still took out a ton of the soldiers." Andy told. I pulled my hands closer to the fire and rubbed them together for warmth, then said, "No, I promised myself I'd kill the man who called the attack. This isn't just for my friend. It's for all the civilians killed by the Enclave. All the innocents that died by Autumn's hand. It just isn't fair if I let him go."
Andy fiddled around with his helmet as it laid in the dirt, and looked back up to me. "I guess you have a point.. Some of my relatives and friends were killed by Enclave stormtroopers. I guess I have a reason to fight with you, then." I stared up into the sky, gazing at the moon as it washed light over the wasteland, and the millions of stars floating in the backround. I laid onto the ground, balling up my shirt and using it as a pillow. "We should get some sleep." I said to the others. I shut my eyes and let myself fall asleep.
All I could see was black. Nothingness for minutes. Something then came into view, a person. He had a long trenchcoat, and was aiming a gun at another person on the ground, struggling to get away. The man on the ground, crawling away for his life was Fredrick. The man with the gun closed in on Fredrick, and as Fredrick held his hand in front of him, begging to be spared, he was shot in the forehead.
I opened my eyes, and struggled to move my mouth. I couldn't move my lips, something was on my mouth. I then began to feel what it was. Duct tape. I hadn't even noticed yet that the ground under me was moving, and I was roped up to where I couldn't even move my fingers. I attempted to yell for help, but I couldn't. All that came out were struggled moans. I moved my head around and noticed I was on the side of a brahmin. There were more people than me attached, and as I looked closely, I recognized them as my own team members.
We were all stuffed in huge burlap sacks, but we were too big, and had our heads sticking out of the top. I waited. And waited. And hours later, we stopped moving. I popped my head up and saw a man walk over to me, and slap a heavy metal collar around my neck. He pressed a glowing red button, which then 'beeped' for seconds, then locked in tight. The man overturned the burlap sack, tossing me out of it. "Get up!" he yelled. I did as told and stood up, to see the others with collars, too.
Weston was being dragged by the neck away from the rest of us. He attempted to get free of the hold, but kept on failing. We were then pushed forward, and I realized we were in Paradise Falls. As I walked, I watched as Weston was dragged into a large building. A sign in front read, 'Eulogy's Pad'. We passed it, and were stopped at a fenced area. The guards walked to the gates to get it open. I turned to Thomas. "What happened?!" I asked. "I dunno. These guys must've caught us in our sleep. That's what we get for camping too close to Paradise Falls." The guard came back, and yelled, "Hey! No talking when you're unattended. Now get in the pens!" I walked into the fenced area, and as the others got in I watched the guard close the gate and walk off.
