Even the most expensive MBP configuration you can buy has a relatively weak graphics card for gaming, unfortunately, but unless you plan to run the most demanding mods, it should be fine for Oblivion.
If you want to run newer games, you may need to run them at a lower resolution (not native), or lower settings on the MBP. (Or buy a Windows laptop instead if you want to enjoy the latest games in HD resolution, max detail settings.)
I also have an Envy 15 with dual Intel SSDs, HD5830 GPU and 16GB RAM which cost less than my MBP. It can run about any game on 1920x1080, all detail settings maxed and get at least around 40-60fps for most games if vsync is enabled, much higher for some games without vsync. At 1920x1080, all detail settings maxed, Oblivion stays constantly at 60fps. The most demanding game I tried was Crysis Warhead, which dropped below 30 fps but was still playable frame rates.
The only area I noticed where the MBP seems to do better is with playback of uncompressed or ProRes422 codec 1080p quicktime files. For some reason (probably because Apple created quicktime) the Envy 15 lags a bit while the MBP playback is smoother for these pro resolution quicktime files.
