Journey of Arsa - Aftermath

Post » Fri Jun 22, 2012 7:02 pm

Hi guys, this is my first post in this section, so if there's any mistake in grammar, spelling or breach of rule that I've made, do correct me. Anyway, this is an extra chapter (hence the word 'Aftermath' in the title) from the story of my main RP character Arsa, an Imperial spell-bow. This story takes place in his early twenties when he leave his family to learn about magic in College of Winterhold. This story is told in first person because this is the most convenient way for me to write when I'm RPing the game (I've just started this character so this chapter is still on going).

The Night of Departure

The night is extremely quiet and dark. There's no howling of mountain wolves or any other noise, just silence. I was hesitating about going out at such silent night at first, fearing that I'll be discovered by my family. But I've checked all of them and they're sound asleep so it should be fine if I go out now. Yep, it's all set, I've stocked bunch of arrows and food, I have also carried a few fire scroll in case I got attacked by something that can block my arrow. I grasped the window in front of me and prepared to make a jump from my second floor room. After making sure that my luggage has landed safely I jumped from my window. Trying to be as silent as possible in my fall. But as soon as I reached the ground I heard a voice from behind me.

"Are you going already?"

"Yes, Grandfather. Are you here to stop me?"

"Stop you? No, no, no. Why do you think I trained you those archery techniques? I'm here to help you prepare to embark on your journey and send you off"

"I've already had all that I need. My quiver is full and so do my backpack. I also bring some septims from the result of helping our neighbor with their farm. So I think I'm fully prepared to go on this journey."

"Hm,,, still, how about college tuition? Surely you can't pay it with those septims? Here, take this. Just make sure you read it before giving these books to the college."

"What are these... journals? also, is this blue journal really the 7th Champion of Cyrodiil's journal? The one who helped ended the Oblivion Crisis? How did you get your hand on these journals?"

"Those three journals belongs to ex-Champion of Lord Sheogorath. They'll bring you good luck and provide good read before you went to sleep."

"Good luck? What are you talking about, old man? I don't know about this dov,, dova,, well, whatever his name is, but weren't Neverarine and Champion of Cyrodiil meet a bad end to their journey? The Neverarine suddenly disappeared and The Champion killed by a daedra. Just holding these books makes me feel like my luck from my thief bithsign has been drained out."

"Really? The story's different according those journals. Well, read it and think for yourself, about what really happened to those heroes. If you're still in doubt then ask those mages in the college you're going to, they should be able to tell whether those books are real or not."

"Okay, I'll reluctantly bring these books with me. Anything else?"

"Ah, Lord Sheo also wants you to warn some Stormcloak soldier you'll encounter along the way that they'll get ambushed at Darkwater Crossing."

"Why? isn't The Stormcloak that rebel group? Why should I help them?"

"Huh? Cause there's no dragon to help them if they're captured."

"Old man, don't go to Shivering Isles okay?"

"Insolent brat, it's up to me wherever I go. It's your responsibility to save them because you're the one that killed the dragon who's supposed to save them. Or should I say going to kill? Oh well, both ways of saying it are correct. Anyway, you just need to remember to read those journals and warn the Stormcloaks. And don't forget about all the Archery techniques that I've taught you!"

"Alright, farewell old man. I'll send a letter once I've reached the College."

"Don't bother, just create a spell to we can talk using telepathy, till then, just focus on your study."

"Okay, goodbye!"

"Good luck boy! Don't do anything stupid! Lord Sheo is watching you!"

I then turned my back to the old man and started my journey to North, to the province of Skyrim. That night, my journey went smoothly without any obstacle. I haven't even seen any animal along the road. Don't tell me, I'm really being watched by Sheogorath? *sigh*, Madgod, if you can hear me, please don't do anything to me or my family. I just wanted to learn some magic to better understand people and my family is a peaceful one, don't destroy our happy life. With that prayer I continued my journey on the cold, dark road to Skyrim.
