Leyawin is right next to Elsweyr. Not on the other side of the continent.

It neighbors black Marsh though

Black Marsh would be the last province they attack. There's not much reason for them to attack it, and it would be the hardest to take. They would have to send ships all the way around the continent just to get to Morrowind, and the logistics are almost impossible for that.

Thalmor aren't so forthrightly stupid. Stupid, but not forthrightly so. There's literally no material advantage present in Morrowind to justify the astronomical risks.

Also, Dunmer glory ended at Red Mountain, the first time.

I can think of at least three gods that would disagree with you.

Like all heroes, the Nerevarine was in great need of a vacation.

You know what, the Dunmer are isolationists and do not bother others unless bothered. They pose almost no thread to the Thalmor. Unless the Thalmor really hate the ash-skinned Lorkhanites, Morrowind will escape this war.

The Thalmor hate the Dunmer with a passion in the end, should the Thalmor go far enough and fail to unbind the world a war with Morrowind is inevitable. Still I think they would concentrate more on destroying Talos then on destroying Morrowind.

So? Without Cyrodiil the Dominion has no real way of invading Morrowind. You don't move armies through Black Marsh unless that army exists entirely of Argonians.

Regardless of eventuel intent Morrowind is safe for now.

Vvardenfell is a flaming wreck. Southern Morrowind was smashed up by the Argonians, and the rest of Morrowind likely has depleted agricultural resources. The only reason to take it would be the rich ebony mines, but I seriously doubt that the Dominion needs a source of capital which is what the ebony mines would primarily be.

The Dunmer themselves are scattered throughout the empire. I'd say that the Thalmor are likely to write it off as an area to take if they feel like it when the rest of their military goals have been met. But as of now it offers nothing to them in terms of objectives, and holds no strategic value within their scope of operations.

Only reason the Thalmor would want Morrowind is to check up on the Heart of Lorkhan.

Truth is, this matter confuses me, and regardless of our opinions on it, a good writer could have the Thalmor attack Morrowind by giving them a solid reason to do so. I've come to the shaky conclusion that attacking Morrowind would be one of the last things the Thalmor would do during their grand military campaign, but it's still on the list.

I agree that Vivec is not a pillar, or was not always one. He is seemingly not one. He could make himself a pillar though, maybe he's already done that. if I understand the Scripture of the City correctly, The City of Swords was built in his image which is the image of the Aurbis. If Vivec made his city a Tower, then this Tower cannot truly fall unless the stone, Vivec, zero-sums. "I have rebuilt myself." says the city (Sermon 25). In this case, Morrowind will have the last laugh.

endif. twice.

Eh, just a theory.
