White Legs after HH Finish?

Post » Tue Feb 09, 2010 8:12 am

I know it has been said that evacuating Zion will leave the White Legs in Zion after the end. However I have not found any. Lots of Dead Horses sneaking around but not one single White Leg to battle.

Has anyone actually finished HH, with the evacuation ending, and returned to Zion after leaving to find any White Legs? I cannot find any. This is missed opportunity if they make the DLC a place you can return to, but do not have an option where the most formidable enemys respawn there. I'm kind of sick of junked up fiends coming at me with a pool cue, I want White Legs with Anti Material Rifles and 12.7 SMG's. Now that is a challenge. Anybody actually get the White Legs to respawn after the ending?

The creatures (and White legs) in Honest Hearts were not meant to be like in New Vegas. From the script that handles encounters in Honest Hearts:

Due to the size of Zion, and to the significantly smaller amount of time that players will spend here compared to the Mojave encounters in Honest Hearts are not meant to simulate a living ecosystem.
Here we will treat them as encounters that are already pre-arranged, triggered and then presented to players - unlike in NV where populations persisted trough (sic) game-time and game-space creating a complex web of interactions

I haven't checked the script or game world out too thoroughly but I believe this means that there weren't respawning creature references placed into the game world. It would therefore be a simple matter of adding respawning creature references throughout the game world and enabling them after the main quests are finished.

Haha, that made me laugh! So true. Fiend with pool cue versus power armored, .50 cal wielding god like character. Hmmmm..... wonder what the outcome of that will be.

Hmm... I'm not very tech savvy, but would waiting 3 days in the Mojave, then going to Zion remedy the situation?

Thanks for the reply Lingwei! You will get all the creatures respawning. If you love hunting Giant Green Geckos, You Guoa and Cazadors, then returning is a dream come true. These respawn all over Zion, and they are tough too. Especially the Cazadors, they are tough to kill unless you use an SMG and empty it on them. I just wish you could still find the White Legs. I know it has been said that they will stay in the valley and respawn but I cannot find them. I even returned to their unraided base in Three Mary, not a single one. This leads me to believe they are left off the respawn list, and no ending will make them return. I guess we have to rest our hope on a mod coming out that respawns them. I don't have the knowledge to add that scripting myself. I made a wonderful shotgun in the GECK but that is the extent of my ability.

Thanks Gnome thats a good suggestion. I did leave for the Mojave and I think I spent almost a week back there before I returned to Zion. Although I never did actually count it off. I'll try that and specifically sleep off the days back at Novac, before I return and see if that works. Unfortunately I don't hold out much hope. The White Legs were worthy opponents while I was in my Gecko Leather Armor and I think returning to fight more of them would really help the replayability of this DLC and IMO make it an over the top excellent addition.

I checked my saves some time back. While I cannot comment on whether they "respawn" or not, I can confirm that in the save where I took the Graham route and crushed the White Legs, all Dead Horses and Sorrows tribals (the non-character ones) remain in Zion but the White Legs seem to be all dead, even in Three Marys. But when I load the save where I evacuated Zion, going to Three Marys will still provide me with White Leg enemies. This could be because I never attacked Three Marys in that route though. In this save, all the camps of the Dead Horses and Sorrows are empty.

Thanks duckroll, my experience is somewhat the same. In the game where I evacuated Zion I did go into Three Mary as far as the cave and killed the White Legs there. However after finishing that game via the evacuation ending, leaving Zion for the Mojave, and then returning I do not get any White Legs in their Three Mary camps. I go all the way to the end, areas where I have never been during the game, and do not see a single WL.

This morning I tried to wait 3 game days to see if that would reset them but nothing. Next I will try leaving Zion and sleeping 3 days in Mojave, then returning, to see if that triggers it. I don't think it will though as I am sure I was already out of Zion for 3 days already.

I'm beginning to think that White Legs respawning in Zion with the evacuation ending is nothing more than speculation and rumor. Maybe there can be a leftover WL but once they are killed they never come back to Zion. This would be a pity as it will remove a lot of higher level replayability for this DLC.

Like I pointed out before - they are handled as triggered encounters not placed as respawning creatures so waiting three days is a pointless activity. They are disabled and marked for deletion after the main quest is finished meaning that they basically delete from the game (ie they are no longer even there).

This leads me to believe they are left off the respawn list, and no ending will make them return. I guess we have to rest our hope on a mod coming out that respawns them. I don't have the knowledge to add that scripting myself. I made a wonderful shotgun in the GECK but that is the extent of my ability.

There's no 'respawn list' or need for any scripting of any kind whatsoever. You just go to the appropriate DLC cell in the cell view window, scroll down the list of NPCs in the object window and then drag and drop them into place in the render window. You'd just have to edit the NPCs in their edit window to tick the respawns button which they currently don't have ticked. It's like literally one of the easiest things you can do in the GECK
