I have this problem whereby the games controls (keyboard, mouse and xbox controllers) stops working/responding roughly 5-10 minutes into playing and while I'm in different places. I can only get out by selecting CTRL+ALT+DEL and I've spent hours trying to resolve this issue today.
Changing musicenabled=1 to =0 in the Oblivion.ini gets around this issue! However, no music! I don't have this issue playing other games with similar engine (Skyrim, FO3 and FNV). Somehow music is interfering with my controls.... I don't know much about computers but I don't understand how music can effect controls :S.. but I'm not an expert.
According to the FAQ on this forum, the K-Lite Codec pack is supposed to sort out this issue. I downloaded and installed the 32bit Mega version and the 64bit version (I have Win 7 64bit) and installed both as suggested on codecguide.com. I previously did not have ffdshow installed on my computer but K-Lite installed it, so I made sure that Oblivion.exe was on the exceptions list. This didn't fix the problem. I have also uninstalled DivX codec pack and uninstalled both of the K-Lite codec packs and I still have the problem. I cannot find Vodei on my computer so this is not the culprit.
I don't know what to do! This is the strangest issue I've ever encountered in my PC 'career'. Why is my hardware being effected by music? Is there anything I can do to stop this from happening? The only mods I have installed are the Unofficial Patch and Oblivion Stutter Remover but I had the issue before I used these so I they are not the problem.
Please help!
