Question for those more knowledgeable then me.

I have been reading post about iron sites and stuff and I was wondering if it was a sever wide setting or if you just set it up for your self. Also even when you turn off iron sites do you still do an ADS mode thing were you look farther and move slower. If this is already answered sorry for your time.

There is the option to turn them off, but I'm not sure if that's based on the settings of the room you're in, or a personal setting. Either way, I would assume that it just removes the gun from the screen, I can't imagine them forcing a whole room to play firing from the hip.

Iron sights by default, but this can be changed. I don't know if there's still a zoom without the ironsights, but I would guess no.

I actually think there might be. I personally like the idea of iron sights, but I'm never sure what point i have to like the shot up with. Is it the very edge of the ironsights? slightly under? over? So I'm happy when games allow me to either just keep the normal crosshair, and still be able to hold RMB to aim. FO:NV had an interesting system of allowing you to toggle true and simulated iron sights that I was quite fond of.

i believe this is called, "getting to know your gun" :) as in real life the accuracy is always a little bit off, and every gun needs a slight alteration to what your lining your shot up with.

Based on their previous game ui_showgun 0 would hide the gun client side when ADS and no scope. ADS would also hide the gun while gaining the zoom effect.

I hope it stays that way in Brink too.

I understand what you're saying, but I'm just not interested in it :P

Indeed, I hope it'll stay this way, even though I still like to see my gun (Just not the ADS)

Hide Gun / Show Gun while Noscope with a Hide Gun / Show Gun option while ADS was not possible, had to be modded into game.
Hopefully they will add such an option but I can't say I am too optimistic about it.

I'd like the ironsights to give a small advantage, but the game could be played without it, similar to how a person can learn to parkour in-game without the smart button and have more speed and control over their movements.

Another issue I have with iron sights is that they take up half of the screen. If you're aiming for a headshot, and accidentally aim a little high, the enemy has suddenly disappeared behind your gun and you have no idea where he is. When you aim a gun in real life, especially with a reflex sight, this isn't an issue. Although, now that I think about it, I could probably just put a reflex sight on all of my weapons and call it a day.

I plan on doing the same for the majority of the time, I really just want iron sights for a revolver so I can run around and pull off badass headshots.
