i have a 285 now but im looking at the 5790 that just came out. althoug i want to see what nvidias chip is capable of in may. waiting for my tax refund is killing me.

to be honest though it depends on the types of games you play since ati and nvidia perform differently on different games. for instance while ati is the only one offering direct x 11 there are only 2 games that use it at this point while nvidia offers physx support which is more widely used. but then again ati cards are way faster at this point until nvidia release that new fermia chip or whatever the nickname of it was. even if nvidia new card is not quite as fast i really like the difference that the physx makes on certain games. i suppose i could just run my 285 as a physx card if it will let me do that. :shrug:

I have a new Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 1 GB DDR5 on its way (it should arrive sometime tomorrow). This was the most my budget could handle. Well, actually its quite a bit more than this month's budget can handle, since my old card was no longer under warrantee . . . but I really NEED my computer back and my best friend offered to loan me enough so that I could purchase this one (all my crying and whining was driving her nuts!). So I should be back up and running very soon.
