Is it possible to play through Fallout 3 GOTY and FNV UE usi

Post » Mon Jun 25, 2012 12:03 pm

I'm about to play through Fallout 3 GOTY and then FNV UE (first time for UE of FNV), and I'm looking for a change. Would it be possible to play through all of both games using only a shotgun, in terms of ammo etc? I'm thinking it could be fun, especially because you would have to get up close and personal, which might call for tactics in certain situations.

Also, does anyone roleplay through these two games, i.e. impose rules on themselves to make the two games more realistic? I have a few rules lined up myself for my next Skyrim runthrough, and I might consider doing something similar for the two Fallout games. I know that FNV already has hardcoe mode.

in FONV I would have to say its possible. You can get pulse slugs that deal an EM damage to targets, you can get dragon breath shells that deals damage as well as light your targets on fire. You can even get traditional magnum, slug, and buck shot.

In FO3 I would say it would be very hard considering they use basic shotgun shells and there are some enemies that are very tough that I dont think a shotgun would take down. The Ghoul reaver for instance is one of the hard enemies that is a bullet sponge and I dont think I never took one down with a shotgun.

On roleplaying, I would have to say I do that, every time I play these games I always put myself in the situation and how I would respond in real life. Then there are those times where I deside to be a complete jerk and become a grimreaper killing anyone who tried to get in my way.

In FO:NV you can talk your way out of most situations with a high speech skill, so beating it with only shotgun is possible. In FO3 however... I do not know, it would be very difficult...

In Fallout 3, it might painful to deal with the bullet sponges. Most of the time, ammo isn't a problem in that game, however.

In New Vegas, absolutely. Have a high repair skill, get Shotgun Surgeon, And Stay Back!, and every other shotgun perk. You'll find shotguns along the way with different viability, and you can fabricate ammo for them. There are only 2 Shotgun Ammo types (not including subtypes) so it shouldn't be a problem.

I think you mean two different calibers, just 10ga and 12ga.

Ok, how about doing FONV with just shotguns, and maybe F3 with one particular short-range weapon? I haven't played it for a while, so I can't remember if there are any other short-range options or not. I'd definitely like to stay away from long-range weapons, it got boring taking enemy's heads off from really far away.

Combat shotguns in Fallout 3 are fairly powerful so it should be very easy to go through the game with one.

The Terrible Shotgun can be stronger that the fatman considering all the right conditions are met (even killing a super mutant behemoth in one shot).

If you're talking about regular shotguns from the DLC then that would be more difficult.
