So let's begin with the basic news: My computer's Hard Drive is dead. My computer completely unworkable. Now, I will get it fixed within the next few weeks, but, EVERYTHING I have worked on has been wiped out, gone, cleaned free. Meaning all of the countless hours of work was for naught and those I was helping have been let down.

So, rather then send an individual message to everone, I made a thread, seeing it would be easier, and quicker to follow the limited time I have on here at the moment. I apologize to everyone I was helping or working on things for them, sincerely, I mean it.

I know what I was working on, though can't remember all who it was for. Those few will know who. But, when I return, I'll be getting back to re-building the 30+ gigs of work I've done. And hopefully get something released before something like this happens again.

So I guess the stuff on it isnt important enough to send to a hard drive data recovery place?

Regardless if I had or not; which It hadn't crossed my mind;I forget little things like that. I mean, a few of my work is online. But I now realize, should have had a website where I stored everything. Unfortunately, as I said, it didn't cross my mind. And I am rather PO'd about this and feel stupid for not thinking of the online storage idea.

Wow, that's a nasty thing to have happen to your work. I have black moss if you want it, though obviously an older version.

Yes that would be awesome, when i get my comp back. I am thinking about re-working on black moss, when i am able, and hopefully finishing it!

Don't give up on it for good until you try some datarecovery options
though. I thought several times a hard drive had died on me but was able
to recover most of the files with freeware data recovery software. As
long as the drive turns on, there is a chance... even if windows won't
boot, and even if the partitions won't show up in windows anymore, the
data may still be there... I would recomend looking into a Puppy linux
live cd if your computer won't boot to windows... and or pulling the
drive and getting a usb Enclosure from Newegg com to put it in and hooking
it up to another pc to try to recover the files with some freeware data
recovery software. I'll see if I can hunt up some links to software you
could try.

The Drive simply don't exist; My comp doesn't even register it's there. It as if it is just gone.

That's means there may still be a possibility that the recovery software can search out the parititions that are no longer visible to windows and recover the files,
that happened on the drive I saved my files from, although it was an external, so I could hook it into another pc to try to get to the files...
Type "best free data recovery software" into google and look for a techsupportalert.com link for some programs you could try.


If it won't boot to windows, you'll need to get it hooked up to another pc in order to try to recover the files, unless you can set it as a second drive in your current pc after getting a new drive up and running and booting to windows.
NOTE: If windows says the drive is "unformated" and asks if you want to format it be sure to say NO and make sure you don't save anything else to that drive again until you recover your files... since either of those actions would
overwrite data. Also, make sure that if you can recover any files that they get recovered to a different hard drive so that the data doesn't overwrite itself.
