is ShowClassMenu meant to delete skill upgrades when changed

Sorry if this' been anwered a million times and I should look it up, but its a downer, and just wondering if changing your character class in the console mid game is meant to delete all the points earned. Its not the worst cae for my character atm (not having played them that long) but started this game so many times allready while modding it, and finally got settled, and find this!!

and it wasnt set up properly cause my DarN menus stopped showing activated buttons in any of the facegen, race menu, birth sign, etc menus, so when theres lists you goto choose, you cant see what been press, and sometimes if pressed at all.

sure I just need to reinstall DarN and remove all those parts (which shouldve been done soon as I noticed) so really just checking if its normal to allways lose your skill points changing the class option. Dont remember ever noticing points disappearing when changing it the 2nd time at the sewer grates exit, so curious if ive missed that fact aswell

From the pinned tech faq at the top of this forum:

Many of you may want to change your character's looks later on in the game after the initial sewer exit adjustments. The showracemenu function allows you to do this, but will reset many of your skills if you ever press "Done" after adjusting your character. Why? I don't know. You must be careful with this...the correct way to change you character's features using the showracemenu:

1.) Save your game first. Make a seperate manual save.
2.) Open console (~) and type showracemenu
2.) Make your changes
3.) After making your changes and with the console still open, hit ESC and make another manual save.
4.) Then load up that new save and check your stats/skills and make sure they're the same.

Whatever you do, DO NOT EVER press Done. If you already screwed this up, hopefully you have a save you can revert back to. Otherwise you will have to use other console cheats to get your stats back up and it's a rather tedious process.
