Strange framedrops when shooting at water..HELP !

Post » Mon Jul 02, 2012 4:37 pm

-the problem:
I get framedrops in the singleplayer in DX11 when i shoot for a couple of moments into water it happens all the time when i do this. Also when i drop in the beginlevels in shortcut sewers the framerate goes down from 60 to 30, and back up to 60 when i exit them. Sometimes the framerate goes down when i look to a certain direction of the map and right back up to 60 frames when i turn and look the other way and it maintaince a solid 60 frames.

-when:
*shooting at water: 60 frames--> 30 fps just in seconds
*looking in some direction: 60 frames --> 45 fps turning away its right back to 60
*walking in the begin level shortcut sewers: 60--> 30 fps straight back to 60 fps when exiting..

- game settings:
*version 1.9, DX 11 enabled, high resolution pack enabled, all settings on ultra
*1920 x1080@60Hz IMPORTANT NOTICE ;
due to a 50FPS cap i changed this to a custom resolution of 1919x1080@60HZ and now playing in 60FPS instead of 50 Fps cap

-what did NOT help at all and already tried :
*lowering settings ; did not helped at all
*uninstalling the game + deleting everything Crysis 2 related in folders on my HD etc.; didnt help
*latest NVIDIA drivers; 301.42 WHQL and 304.48 BETA : nope, the problem is still there

not a single framedrop in DX9 ONLY in DX11,
temps of card are 77degrees
using FRAPS for fps

my rig :
i5 2500k@4,5 Ghz
8Gb
ASUS GTX 680 2Gb ( currently 304.48 BETA )
Windows 7 64bit
power 950w

i googled around for a very long time and reading posts similair to my problem but nothing could be found why this is happening nor a solution, so please help me solve this problem i am getting desperate..

Thnx and kind regards ,
Dave

Dude use maldo HD dx11 pack.It disables all fake water tessellation which crytek uses.And those framerate are quite normal.Online they get similar.

Actually water tessellation is real but crytek uses fake undergound water tessellation.Maldo texture pack disables all those and u get more framerate with better textures.

maldo HD dx11 pack ? i never heard of this.. i'm going to check it out. I'm glad that you responded so quick. So the framerate is normal and it isnt aa software bug nor my hardware limitation and should i add a 2nd GTX 680 to keep it constant 60 frames without the "maldo HD dx11 pack" ?

Well online they get like 60 to 70 frames average.That also in some 30 sec time demo.So in real world gameplay your framerate will obviously dip to 40.So i would say your frames are normal.Also wait for more mature drivers from nvidia.Did u see how catalyst beta 10.7 improved performance of GCN cards.Expect similar things from nvidia also.
