Life in the Wastes

Post » Fri Feb 12, 2010 3:06 pm

Hello everyone, I am posting this as somewhat of an advertisment for my new blog. It follows the formula of The Survival Challenge along with a few other aspects of my own invention. It records the life of a man named "Devs" and his fight for survival. Before he got stranded in the Capitol Wasteland, he was an Enclave scientist who grew up in Raven Rock. Obviously his stats define his as such, with a starting int of 9 and a str of 3. He uses his wits, sneak, and ability to create to help him survive the harsh wastes. His tale begins in the scraqeyard and contineus from there. The first post is just a opening of sorts, with the real posts starting tomorrow. Again, i'll play just like a Survival Challange and post it in the form of Devs journy. Set to hard and begining with nothing at a low-level, I want to see just how long I can survive the wastes without any loads. Obviously this means when I die, not when I save and load later to do more posts. So enjoy, I figure most of you will get a kick out of it. The whole point is to improve my writing abilities so feel free to critique.

Quack it sounds interesting, but there are a few websites for the entries. No need to busy yourself editing the website.

Nice so far. I guess Raven Rock is pretty damn far from where dev is ( By in-game map comparison) :liplick:

What exactly do you mean by "few websites for the entries"

And thats exactly what i was going for. In-game the Enclave hasn't showed up yet and Raven Rock is far away. With Devs lost and seperated from the only people he knew, survival will be difficult if not impossivle.

Sounds nice. I saw it in another thread where you linked to it. I'm thinking of making something similar, but with me writing about my RP-ing and my fan-fic's etc...

I'm gonna try to remember to keep track of this ^^

Today's Episode: Sins of Our Fathers

I have been thinking of posting screenshots in my story to better show and explain chartacters/locations. My computer doesn't run fallout all that amazing and I'm not sure how you take screenshots on a 360. Anyone have any ideas, suggestions, or general comments?

Other then that, tomorrow's post will come a lot sooner now that I have fixed a few system problems with both my 360 and blogger.

Something I am working on right as we speak, but many problems keep happening. Sufice to say, my computer is not the best in the world to play fallout. I can play on medium with some lag involved, but it seems so much worse then when I play my 360 copy.

Currently, I use my 360 for my posts, but I am trying to switch to pc for screenies. When I get them in, they are not going to be the best quality due to computer limitations.

New episode out now children! This is what we authors call "writing yourself into a corner".

If you would like to contribute to my efforts: I need a mod that allows me to make anyone a follower, the knowledge of how to add audio to holotapes made in the GECK, more info on how to make your own followers, and how to replace one npc for another. (I.E. Make one NPC look like another)

Anyone of this would be a real help, as I am planning to make a mod to not only help with my story, but give the readers a mod to have Lucy as a follower or mabye even other surprises.

But for now, enjoy today's finish to my Paradise Falls encounter!

Lol, good to hear. As I wrote it I kept thinking "I have no @!#$#@^ clue what a person sounds like on jet".

Working on today's episode now, it involves more jet, but it a diffrent way.

Also if anyone didn't catch my note on the site: If anyone wants their personal character to show up in Life in the Wastes, just e-mail me (lithianlord@live.com) a full character sheet and any other additional information. This also applies to mods because I'm really starting to get into modding and showing them off.

That said, everyone needs a Megaton Roof.
