Running along Hiding from all dem Ass Hats and then I take 1

Post » Fri Jul 06, 2012 10:36 am

and I'm on VERY EASY difficulty .-.

so my last save was at the beginning of the war on Hoover Dam and theres bunch NCR, Legion and handful of Khans any tips on how to complete this part of the quest

before I last died I tried ducking and running long the left side but then I came across a gap that didn't look like id be able to get back up if I went down so I waited a bit eventually the legion looking for me ran off to kill some NCR goons

I then eventually hopped back onto the road running along the dam and came across more legion ass hats shot them down fairly easily took there weapons and repaired them (no idea why I do this I only use the 9mm Benny had and the assault carbine and in dire cases the mercenary grenade launcher)

so after that fire fight i used a doctors bag and spammed my self with stim packs and then I get a message saying "Stim pack Addiction" and then before I can finish reading it I took 1 bullet and just flat out died ...

should I run down the dam in legion armour and hope the NCR peoples are weak here as they are everywhere else? also if I kill NCR here will they be hostile after this war on the dam ?

Em i would say go back before you start the battle and get good guns like the fat man and get some one like Lilly who can be the bait if you cant do that then just run in side and just wait it out?

Well, what are your stats? I can't really think of anything at the dam that would oneshot an average character. Are you wearing armor?

LOL good question! Maybe the courier runs naked into battle, armed with just a 9mm... *rolls eyes*

Hey Epic Fail... didn't you say you played Fallout 3? Or did you had a crappy character in that game, too?

Maybe you didnt have full health and someone got a crit with an AMR on you,big whoop it happens just reload.

And reading your last sentence i can tell you didnt read the message before the battle and we are gonna get another thread crying about post hoover gameplay,i very much look forward to reading it.

What level are you, and what level are your skills? I can imagine you not standing a chance if you run around naked, have 1 Strength and Endurance, and only 10 Guns skill and your 9mm. However, if you'd use something like Combat Armor (quite readily available) and something like a Hunting Rifle instead of your 9mm, I can imagine you doing a lot better during the battle. Of course, when you're like level 5 or something, you're not going to have much of a chance anyways.

No you cannot continue playing the game after, this is why it said "this is the point of no return". The game ends, as it should, after you complete the second battle of Hoover Dam. If you want to do anything else in the wasteland then reload a save or start a new game.

You have to pay attention to the story to know that.

No, it seems that you were not paying attention to what people were saying. It takes talking for about 5 seconds to nearly any named or unnamed NCR NPC to realize that there was a previous battle with the Legion at Hoover Dam.

I think you may want to start a new game, bud. Treat this as a trial run of sorts. If you're having trouble on Very Easy, then it's fair to say there's something wrong. Not that there's a 'right' way to play, mind, but you need at least a solid grasp on the basic principles of the game.

My advice? Take your time. Don't rush anything. Practice with weapons (if you can afford to) and most importantly LISTEN to what people have to say. New Vegas puts on a masterclass in videogame writing, so you might find yourself enjoying the story, too ;) If you REALLY can't stomach the NPCs, then at the very least try ad deduce the important bits. Excuse me if I'm being a dike, but it is simply unacceptable to not know about the first battle at Hoover Dam at this stage in the game? In fact, isn't it mentioned in the introduction?

There's lots to see and do, so chill. No need to just bomb through the MQ. That's missing the point :)

With New Vegas the main quest is the structure of the story and the second battle of Hoover Dam is its ending. Any exploring or quest completing you wanted to do should have been done before.

The first battle for Hoover Dam happened four years before New Vegas actually begins.
