The site has been down for a while now, does anyone know what the story is?

Elric has had issues in the past with viruses and has gone down because of them. He's usually brought the site back up, but he may have thrown in the towel. Some of the mods on there should be on Morrowind Modding History, but I don't think MMH got the full catalog. Leo should know for certain.

This is a rough time for download sites. At PES I get "404" as often as not now, and Elric's had a lot of stuff that just isn't anyplace else...
