Curing Vampirism is proving harder than I thought...help?

So I spent today in Daggerfall trying to cure my vampirism, but I'm having a rather difficult time.

The first time I got a letter from a vampire hunter, I found my contact, who directed me to another person who could confirm who my bloodfather is. I found her, and she told me he's in Sentinel. As in the City. There's no additional description in my log, just "Sentinel."

So I decided that I just got unlucky, and I fast traveled around at the slowest pace possible, until I got another letter. This time I got to the step where I need to find the second person, but they don't seem to exist. I've tried it several times, going back to previous saves from after I talked to the person who directed me to Sentinel, and it doesn't seem to matter how many times I do it, I can't find the person who tells me who exactly my bloodfather is.

I also tried just guessing which guy I need to go after, but it seems as though you can't skip a step in the quest sequence because once I get into a dungeon and rest for the first time, I get attacked by a vampire who calls me a traitor and that "I'll never find [name of the bloodfather]."

I'm getting to think that I either need to find the guy in Sentinel(that's probably not going to happen, considering I can't even ask people where he is), or go back to a pre-vampirism save(which would svck). Anyone have any advice or tips?
