Can't Save Progress

Post » Sat Feb 13, 2010 11:30 pm

Alright so here's the problem. Recently I installed about 4-5 mods and went to try them ingame with a new character. i got through the chargen just fine and dandy and went to clear out the newbie cave nearby (admasartus). now before i entered i tried to create a save so that i wouldn't have to go through the chargen again. it started out saving just fine but 3/4 of the way through the loading bar my game CTD. I opened up Mash to try to repair my game but when i started up the saves tab i got an error message saying that the headers for the save are corrupted so thinking that it may have been one of the new mods i installed i unchecked them and tried again only to have it CTD on me at the same point of loading.

I tried saving regularly and quicksaving. I also installed the new Beta of the MCP and activated the features (except for the polish keyboard)
Nothing in my Warnings text relates to the crash (its all BC stuff).

here is my mod list:

You indicate that Morrowind crashed during saving the game. This pretty much ensures that the savegame is garbage, and it sounds like Mash is choking on it too, which would be expected in that case.

If you start a new game, are you able to save okay immediately after you finish the chargen process? It's worth it to try at least a few more times before you start looking for culprits in your list of plugins. If you still can't create a valid savegame after a few tries, then I would try using the binary search method to see if you can pinpoint a particular mod that is causing the problem.

~Edit~

Well apparently upon reproducing this time around after 5 successful saves in a row i think it is safe to say that it was a one time error. I would still like to know what caused it though so we could possibly prevent this from happening in the future

Your load order is not right.

GameFile0=Bloodmoon.esmGameFile1=Book Rotate.esmGameFile2=GDR_MasterFile.esmGameFile3=Morrowind Patch v1.6.5-BETA.esmGameFile4=Morrowind.esmGameFile5=Rise of House Telvanni.esmGameFile6=Tribunal.esm

Get a copy of Mlox to fix the load order that will mess up any gamesas game.

Morrowind.esm,Tribunal.esm then Bloodmoon.esm. Morrowind should be first not Bloodmoon. Bloodmoon should be last...

Your load order is not right.

This is a misunderstanding when viewing the [Game Files] section of Morrowind.ini which is presented in alphabetical order, not load order.
