Dead Money price rise in Australia

Post » Sun Feb 14, 2010 4:40 am

Bethesda, please, PLEASE have a chat to your Australian distributor, Namco Bandai Partners Australia.

They've just hiked the price of Dead Money to US$12.99 - just for Australia. No reason for it, they just decided to.

I bought it minutes after it came out for $9.99 but those wanting it now have to pay 30% more for no reason at all. Price gouging on games in Australia is often blamed on having to protect bricks'n'mortar retailers, but those retailers don't sell DLC.

Namco Bandai Partners also hiked the price of Fallout New Vegas and Brink (both of which I bought prior to their scam) - both were US$49.99, both are now US$89.99 (no, that's not a typo, they're literally charging NINETY BUCKS for a PC game!) It's nothing to do with exchange rate - the Australian dollar is worth more than the US dollar and has been for some time now - and all to do with ripping off gamers.

Time for a new Australian distributor, I think, Bethesda.

I'm an American and I approve this message.

Seriously thats just rediculous, I would move. Every gamer in AUS should move, then they'll be sorry.

This sort of thing encourages piracy, IMO. If people feel they're getting cheated, they have less compulsion to do the right thing.

This is the distibutors decision though, and not Bethesda.

Thats just a sick and twisted joke us gamers dont get the punchline too, i mean im english and i wouldnt dream of paying £57 ( i worked out the exchange rate) especially for a pc game. on release NV was £39.99 for consoles and £29.99 for pc, its always cheaper for the pc version in the uk or so it seems.

Is this the price on Steam? Or at the store for a physical disc?
Becasue 90 bucks for a nonphysical copy of the game is absurd. I would boycott all future products if I paid 90 bucks for a bug ridden game and then get charged 13 bucks for DLC.

That is absurd, that is not even a new game, even if it was it would still not be worth the price. You should organize a boycott of all games there, that will force them to lower your prices.

My dearest apologies to the hypocritical, [censored] CEO's of these [censored] companies in the world. I can't stand corporates at all. They make no sense, and we should just crucify them, but as their dying their hit by a ranger take down. Then victor runs over their arm, and doc mitchell slaps them with his bum leg!!!

Buy the ultimate edition. Buying the individual dlcs will cost you a total of $110US. It will save you money if you sold your copy(I sold mine for $35) and just waited for the complete game.
