Best option to increase strength

Post » Tue Jul 10, 2012 9:18 am

Just bought the battle rifle gra, was shocked at how bad the accuracy is, then realised I didn't meet the strength requirements. I'm talking out of vats.

It requires 6 stren and I have 5. I use the varmint rifle because it's deadly accurate and I have a scope on it. I tried this with the battle rifle and it's shocking. Wasted a load of ammo shooting air. Can that 1 strength make that much of a difference? Oh and im also 5 points off meeting the skill requirement too.

I'm making quite an efficient build and didn't want to waste a perk on intense training. Do you think I should go with the implant instead? Or use a
Perk to cover all future heavier weapons such as the AMR and whatever others there is.
Cheers guys

It matters. If you are planning on heavy weapons then the perk which lowers strength requirement but if not go with an implant and perk because you have plenty of levels if there are no other good perks. At 7 strength you should be great for almost all weapons.

If you can get 6 strength with an implant or Intensive Training perk, that is ideal for guns characters. If you also get the Weapon Handling perk that lets you use the Anti-Materiel rifle effectively. (At 8 STR required, the AMR is the heaviest of the heavy rifle grip guns but works fine with 6 STR and Weapon Handling Perk, I use it all the time with 100 guns skill there's next to no sway in the scope and 1 shot Deathclaw kills are the rule of the day.)

Other options to get 6+ STR are temporary buffs. Try Buffout or Ant Nectar (but not Fire Ant Nectar), and I think some types of alchohol increase STR too.

EDIT: P.S. the Battle Rifle is an awesome weapon but there is a unique version called This Machine that is even better. You can get it by doing a quest for Lt. Boyd at Camp McCarran, it's the quest regarding Contreras. The walkthru is on wiki. This Machine does significantly more damage than the GRA Battle Rifle.

Yeah I noticed this today when I went on wiki to check the guns stats. I was like dammit! Wasted 2k caps. I've just started that quest too!
