An idea for a possible future storyline

Post » Mon Jul 16, 2012 12:02 pm

Maybe i'm not placing this on the right thread but hear me out this idea may come in handy.
As you know, the elder scrolls game has a long history and i for once love it very much but this idea that i came up with could change history to it's very core.
I dont know if it sounds cheesy or lame but..what if the next storyline for the TES games would be around an ancient machine that could transport someone back in time? The results of such could bring in BIG implications for the history of tamriel.
Emperors could swap places. Wars could have different results etc.
If the next elder scrolls game focuses on something big for the main plot i believe it should be that.
I dont know what that machine could be, perhaps dwarven? i'm not sure, but it is a big storyline and a great idea of mine that could be quite entertaining..
your thoughts?

Would prefer to see the next one more "grounded" as in not some mythical, prophecy, chosen one story, more akin to Daggerfall perhaps.

Time travel is not unheard of in TES, though I'm not personally a fan of having a story based around altering the past though its happened before. TIber Septim changed Cyrodiil from a jungle to a forest, and made so that it had always been so for instance. Then the entire Illiac Bay region was reshaped during the Warp of the West where time itself was unraveled and put back together changing the political make up of the region in a blink of an eye.

No, it's not cheesy or lame. It's just bad. Why? Because everything we know doesn't exist in the end and if we go to back we can destroy Nirn and end the TES series and we don't want that!

It's the Mundus, not Nirn.

EDIT: Feel like I should clarify. If going back in time to prevent Lorkhan from making the world with his trickery/convincing, you would prevent the creation the the Mortal Mundus, not the simple Planet Nirn.
