Future Ideas for F.O.

Post » Mon Jul 16, 2012 4:33 am

This is my first attempt to write anything pertaining strictly to the Fallout Universe, I’ve spent the past two weeks familiarizing myself with the timeline and bible concerning the subject, inadequate time to become an expert on the subject though I feel I’ve seen enough to take a shot at what I consider one of the most exciting and well made fictitious universes ever created. I’ve played through both Fallout 3 and ‘ New Vegas, been good, bad and everything in between, racked up at least six hundred hours between the two across multiple profiles and saves, I still play the latter, though I find myself wanting more after the release of the final DLC packages and GOTY package. Not just another game, not just a different location, not just a new story; a revolutionized and globalized Fallout is what I want, one where multiple worlds will reflect multiple actions taken by the player character(s), worlds shared by others across an online basis. I can’t create the stories and outcomes, but I can damn well make the setting, using what I’ve learned from the fallout.wikia.com website. I will also include things which are not to be considered canon to the series and as such will dub this entire document Fallout: Secret Histories. None of this is in any way for profit; I just love the series and wish they would make more, I do not feel the creators and editors of Fallout will integrate or even ever read this as I can’t possibly be on their radar, I haven’t the talent, they are so far out of my league it’s not even funny. In my eyes they are nothing short of the gods of that universe and should be given the honor and respect as such pertaining to the series and all of its offshoots; their word is more than law, it is scripture! I’ll try not to name names as I don’t entirely know where proper credit is due, there are so many behind the creation of that universe along with so much to design and set up and write, I wouldn’t know where to begin. To those whose brainchild I would marry, I thank you eternally and hope you accept this humble tribute to your beautiful creation.
Remember, this isn’t a story, it’s a history of past and future events pertaining to the Fallout Universe, as such I’ll mostly be highlighting new places to explore and people to meet, as well as technology and locale backstories, I’ll try my hardest to remain as canon as possible but I do warn you, there will be some things people won’t agree on or like outright, I apologize and advise you of this now before I begin. I’ll start with the present setting, let’s say some fifty years after Courier’s adventures in New Vegas so around 2332 maybe? The locale will be all of the pre-visited Fallout locations, from NCR territories in the West to the DC Wastes in the East, along with not only other places in the USA but other continents as well such as the British Isles and Europe and Australia. Previously seen factions will also make their appearances whether in the present or via time devices to be discussed in the online world of the game. I’ll stop rambling now and begin a timeline.

The Followers found their own state in Wyoming with the help of the Great Khans and even the defeated and soon reformed White Legs. The Republic of the Apocalypse and the State of Great Khan took up Wyoming and the Dakotas respectively, Montana was given to the White Legs who kept its former name seeking to build themselves a new identity. To this day the leader of the Great Khan State is called Papa Khan instead of president while the White Legs have since reformed into a people reflecting that of a proper civilization however they refer to their leaders as Chiefs and consider themselves a grand tribe.
Fort Patton is found and opened by a group of prospectors out east, only one of a group of twenty come out alive, only barely. With two gold bars and the clothes on their back the sole survivor makes the trek all the way back to the DC area where rumors of his exploits begin. Long before and ever since, there have been those who search for the Fort but never find it or die trying, despite what the sole survivor did to stop any newcomers, many, many more come when the rumors reach the west.

Vault 247’s mysterious beacon stops blinking, some hundred years after it started and its inhabitants disappeared leaving the door open but nonetheless deserted and seen as “haunted” or “cursed”. The vault lay in wait for its inhabitants to return all the while never bothered by anything but the occasional wildlife visitors, Australia wasn’t quite as devastated as the rest of the world but it wasn’t untouched either and the vaults they had constructed by Shelter Industries proved more than reliable against the Great War of 2077. Once back, the inhabitants of vault 247 unlock the remaining vaults on their continent, bringing life back to a desolate place in the southern hemisphere. They then go about scouring the Eurasian continent for life, finding little to none until they find the China, Japan and Moscow wastes where somehow people still lived, as well as in northern Africa and central Europe; even England had inhabitants. And then they discovered the USA, or what had become of it, and sought to stop their fate from not only enveloping their homeland but the rest of the newborn world as well. They are too late, war never changes, China and the Emirates are still fighting the USSR and Europe, lacking the capability to travel across large bodies of water they haven’t restarted their old world struggle with America yet.
**Spring**
A nation sprouts in the remnants of Germany, Spain and England, the New European Union rose from the ashes of the old world to reach out all across the war torn region. A whole new chapter in the post apocalyptic era begins with new experiments, weapons and vaults, like the ones in Australia; nothing like the American wastes. Then again the American wastes are changing too. In Asia life stirs from beneath the torn land as well, from Mongolia down to Japan something survived and finally they have a hand worth playing. Sleeping nations waking for the first time in centuries, America stands ready to greet them, but would they be waiting with open arms to greet their neighbors or would they stand over them armed for war?

Three frigates from Europe make the journey across the ocean and land in northern America along the eastern coast. They come bearing gifts of foreign goods and trade possibilities, two ships land near DC, the last one hits Florida after getting lost in a storm. This marks the beginning of transatlantic dealings between the two continents. The old world of the old world intrigued all across the North American Wastes, many joined the crew of the frigates to see the world, not all were what or who they seemed.

Mr. House is elected president of the newly christened Independent Republic of New Vegas, much to the dismay of the three families he also opens his casino’s doors to the general public after staffing it almost entirely with robots and holograms. To this day the courier’s descendants and those of their companions have suites waiting should they need them, a tribute to those who’d saved the nation from sure destruction, even the NCR citizens could breathe easier so long as they controlled their temptations of the Strip.
NCR annexes Baja California along with most of Oregon and western Washington, establishes them as separate states of the NCR and establishes well maintained trade routes along the coast and into Nevada. Crimson Caravans pays heavy taxes because of past dealings, the Mojave Express strikes roots in California, Oregon and Washington under the name Western Post, few competitors can offer the guarantee and prices the Post had. Arroyo becomes the own state recognized within the NCR as independent.

The atomic sword and plasma blade schematics are found within the ruins of a research bunker located at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean when the region was being inspected for a derelict oil rig. The underwater bunker was a sprawling metropolis of technology and wonder, left to rot when the inhabitants mysteriously disappeared after the Great War. The oil rig attached to the bunker had kept pumping oil until the tanks were full and the automated systems shut them down automatically. Joint efforts along the Eastern coast resulted in the procurement and distribution of fossil fuel across the wastes, over the next ten years the oldest of old world vehicles are refurbished and put to use once more, as a result the roads are cleared to collect parts and scrap, atomic engines are sent to the Followers and the BOS to be refurbished for energy purposes. Not long after this, new tech and weaponry begin to show up all over the wastes, the underwater bunker is housed and staffed by members of every civilized society other than the Enclave or Legion.
*2326*
The underwater bunker is attacked and one quarter is lost to the ocean, hostility and fighting along the trade routes escalade until NCR is forced to intervene, eventually leading them on a campaign clear across American Wastes and forcing them to reestablish their priorities. This culminates in a tribal/raider terrorist attack on NCR capital Shady Sands resulting in the death of the vice president.
*2327*
The world, once a sprawling ball of life, now a sphere of damnation, contamination and radiation, still plagued by mankind and their wars, still rolling despite their best efforts to destroy it.

With the help of Mr. House and his securitron army(after years of pleading, treaty-ing and damn near begging that is), NCR is able to forge highly policed trails and roads from the Mojave to the DC wastes respectively via the northernmost territories, coincidentally reconnecting with the Midwestern BOS chapter along the way. NCR expands little beyond northern California and Nevada and the road they policed across the land, instead the Northwestern and Northern Commonwealths adopt their own separate governments along with the Midwest and New Columbia Commonwealths (New Columbia including East Central and Columbia Commonwealths), over the next ten years or so various factions vie for control of the separate territories.
When the NCR road reached Khan territory they were denied access unless they accepted the Khan’s independence and bought the road they intended on using. NCR and even Mr. House apparently found these terms negotiable at the time as they eventually taxed travel on the entire road. While most paid only ten caps for a whole year’s access, the Khans were charged an exorbitant amount, some five hundred caps. The slight did not go unnoticed as the Khans worked with the Midwest BOS to build their own roads between there and the Midwest Commonwealth.
The Plains are avoided due to their local inhabitant’s response to outsiders, which was often hostile if not overly cautious. The tribes of the plains were different from anywhere in the wastes, each tribe was attributed to a beast of the wastes. This happened as a result of a birthing/bonding process developed by scientists to domesticate animals in a way that would make them more like family. Intelligent deathclaws are among the beasts, the aptly named Chameleons shared their camps and settlements with the beasts as if they were siblings *humans bonded with the deathclaw somehow developed some of their lost camouflaging ability. These and many more like them make the plains a hard place to travel for even the most stalwart of couriers and wanderers. *this is a reference to the beastlords, however instead of telepathy and mind control I chose to use genetic engineering to create subspecies of humans allied with certain different beasts.
^Summer^
the Followers send five envoys into the Plains to establish new trade routes and roads, three are destroyed, two discover the Chameleon, Stalker and Avis tribes, who were at war with their neighbors despite sharing tribal totems, the deathclaw, night stalker and a new flying beast with wings and forepaws along with clawed hind legs with talons, a cross between a tiger and a very large bird. The other three envoys obviously met with the opposing tribes and it did not end well. There are several other tribes also in the area with their own separate totems, however they keep to themselves and there is no war in their factions as the former tribes are seen as dominant no matter the outcome. It is learned that there are thirteen separate tribes in total.
The Ursa Tribe were affiliated with their yau gui brethren and the Cazadores had hives with their brethren often found in caves. The Three Horns and Venom Tooth and Morte Wing were the opposing tribes in the conflict. The Shellshock Tribe had the Mirelurks and the Canes had their dogs and coyotes and wolves, the Vaquero Tribe were bonded to their horse like brethren, though most horses didn’t used to have horns or feathers or scales, I repeat horse-like. The Excavators were associated with molerats of all things, they kept mostly to their vaults and dens, underground, very far underground. These twelve are known as Beastkin *kin as opposed to lord in sight of their kindred connections*.
The thirteenth tribe was found to be completely isolated and rumors were it consisted of cyborgs, supermutants and even ghouls and mutations similar to Harold, the humans in this tribe were long gone, since turned into the abominations that live in the tower housing the tribe. This tribe is called Abominable and their city is left alone until the Followers envoy makes contact to plea for help with the other tribes.
A ship enters orbit bearing the name USSA Epimethius, a ship that went missing on its maiden voyage some three hundred years earlier, an event which led the USSA to lean toward unmanned or local missions. The Epimethius is the only man made vessel which can travel long distances in space, unfortunately this causes the trip to take longer outside the ship than inside, the original crew comes back with the ship to find earth as it has become. They are not at all pleased with the history that has unfolded but neither are they surprised; the ship is made of people from all over the world, even China and Russia, part of a global act to further deep space exploration. *this ship is bigger than zeta, holding a crew of about five thousand with cargo bays and “rowboat” shuttles.
^Fall^
The Midwestern BOS make contact with the Mojave chapter, the two exchange information, technology and even convene in Wyoming to discuss trade relations, the DC chapter also sends an envoy to this meeting and so three separate factions of a once unified people are formed; the Outcasts are reintegrated into the Mojave chapter. Rivet city is deemed the capital of the first Brotherhood controlled state, known as the Capital Confederation; any and all BOS chapters or members seeking refuge are welcome however the Midwestern chapter does become its own state in the weeks following DC’s example. The Midwestern state is called the Midwestern Republic, it has no single ruler instead using a council of twenty five to run the states under their laws and protection.
^Winter^
The Institute receives a signal from somewhere in the plains prompting them to allow relay access to information from a dormant cell; this is the Abominable Tribe’s central computer waking up after Followers restore full power to the facility. Among the information are schematics for the GECK, finished by Dr. Braun and edited by the Institute before the war, these plans far exceed the capabilities of the GECKs previously manufactured. The awakening of the Central AI in the facility also unlocks access to a dormant facility where the GECKs used to be manufactured, full of the materials necessary to begin production after the necessary maintenance and repairs are made by Followers in conglomeration with the Institute over the next few years.
2332
^Winter-Summer^
An Enclave satellite receives information on new GECKs being constructed which it relays to any and all remaining Enclave personnel. This wakes a sleeping giant orbiting the earth; an Enclave satellite vault, cut off from the transmissions from Earth until the GECKs could be acquired to recreate the planet. This sets events in motion to bring about the next war in the wasteland, the outcome of which as always will change the course of history for years to come. Forces are launched to seize both the Institute and the Abominable Tower. NCR troops are sent from the south leaving only Mr. House, his Securitrons and a small contingency at McCarran and Hoover Dam. Massachusetts is sacked within weeks and under control of Enclave, their forces are met with great resistance in the Plains and eventually repelled by the time Enclave is arresting the surviving members of the Institute still in Massachusetts.
By Summer, the Caesar has mounted a Legion the likes of which the wastes have never seen, seeing the Enclave Incursion as their chance, the Mojave is besieged once more as well as the Texas Commonwealth. The Caesar may have bitten off more than he can chew but before the conflict is over the Legion’s territory will be expanded, one way or another.
^Fall^
The first batch of new GECK devices are put to use from southern California all the way to the DC wastes, ninety-two out of one hundred operate properly, creating that many new settlements for colonizing the wastes and defending key borders and roads, the result of four are beyond disastrous, resulting in the halt of production as four fledgling settlements are wiped off the face of the earth, their inhabitants included, some ten thousand people gone in the blink of an eye. The final four are confiscated by the Legion and taken straight to the Caesar; when he captures southern Texas, he uses two of them.
Rome is reborn on the Texan coast, a statue commemorating Sallow is erected in the center of this autocratic citadel. It is far larger yet more densely populated than any city in the US, the two GECKs used in its creation were placed fifty miles apart, the space between was overly terraformed and so became the Pantheon and Palace, the depths of which are legendary, unfortunately the Secret Vault was buried beneath, unbeknownst to the Caesar who eventually had the area excavated by slaves. The result was a revolt, led by the no longer human slaves against the war mongering Caesar.
Caesar being away leading his campaign in the west, a band of rebels escape with the remaining GECKs, eventually creating their own settlements in the Gulf Commonwealth, with the help of local vaults and indigenous population they are able to build and begin their own nation, the Gulf Union. They used the sea faring vessels they found to further trade endeavors within their territories, eventually going as far as DC and even Maine to seek new areas of trade, even going so far as to sell some of their boats. Despite being slaves themselves at one point, humans are still seen as property, but as in the Pitt, are called workers and have a chance to earn freedom. Former Legionaries are denied this privilege outright, Legates are executed if not tortured and experimented on. By winter Caesar is fighting a war on multiple fronts, one he will lose without outside intervention; this came in the form of the Enclave.
^Winter^
Utah is liberated from Legion control; New Canaan is raised from the ground it once stood on, led by Joshua Graham and Daniel’s people. It is thought that not only was this an opportune time to reclaim their land from the invaders, but coincidentally both of the men had died not long before the tribes liberated themselves to resettle their invaded land with the help of the Great Khans who only asked to be on the front lines in return for helping. The Khans had still not forgiven the Legion for their near betrayal regardless of the fact the courier saved them from this fate.
As Utah is being liberated, the three Beastkin tribes who’d lost their war flee to the Colorado Mountains, inadvertently routing out the Legion’s weak hold on the region and taking it for themselves.
With his forces being thwarted to the north the Caesar finally feels the pressure of leading a people as the great Legion is attacked on all sides and his leadership put to the test. Enclave officials see this as their opportunity to gain foothold back on Earth, let alone in America; a flagship is dispatched to the Legion’s new capital of Rome, Texas to discuss a possible alliance with the Legion. This complicates things for the world, at least until one of them tries to assert their power over the other which most feel is only a matter of time. Walls are built, people oppressed and arenas are constructed; gladiatorial arenas run by the Legion and Enclave who pitted warriors and Legionaries and officers against all the wastes had to offer, from deathclaw to supermutants and anything in between. The Enclave is based out of the Kentucky wastes, ironically avoided in the NCR trek across the land to rebuild the road in favor of Ohio, where the Midwest BOS had already struck roots.
Marcus from Jacobstown hears of the Abominable Tower and seeks communication with the tribe, hoping to exchange information on supermutants and nightkin with his cousins in the Plains. His first reply, which is surprisingly clear and well-versed, is from Tabitha and in it she regales him with her travels and current troubles in the Plains. Doc Henry’s brain, having been preserved upon his death, is brought to the Abominable Tower where it is either placed into a cyborg or attached to a super computer. There he meets a female cyborg who’s current work has to do with finding a cure to the FEV virus, something similar to Dr. Henry’s work with the nightkin.
New York proves to be a breeding ground for a new Master with a completely redesigned Master Race, even supermutants and nightkin fear the terror from the Rotten Core. What little human inhabitants are rounded up and converted, new monsters are born into the world via yet another modified version of the FEV, one might say perfected. This new strain provokes the genes most dominant into accelerating and evolving in such a way that the change is not always as physical and grandiose as that of previous mutations.
A Follower leads an expedition to the East, eventually finding herself in DC at Rivet City where she meets an android. With the full backing of the Followers, she and the android purchase a large boat from the Gulf and a crew is assembled by spring the following year. They make plans to voyage across the ocean to Europe. The crew is made up of almost every faction including a platoon from the Mojave and DC BOS chapters each, along with a company from the NCR and Mr. House even sent a small squad of securitrons. Khans and Followers make up the rest of the crew, mostly to secure the Followers control of the expedition; *around one hundred total BOS, one hundred and fifty NCR and one hundred Followers and Khans each, along with eight securitrons* like I said they bought a large ship. Cassidy Boone is the Major of the NCR company, far exceeding her father’s expectations. Veronica Gannon is the Follower leading the expedition, Telemachus, whose father left him Wolfhorn ranch, is her second in command.
That’s as far as two hours got me, not much but I hope you enjoy, I can’t wait to see what actually comes out in the future, I have high hopes and much faith that it will be worth waiting for.
