It's been awhile since I talked to them, but I seem to recall that Divayth had been keeping him healthy or something, because he was the last Dwemer.

He did loose his marbles. He mentions descending into madness, and then subesquently coming out of it again. No real specifics as to how were given.
Remember, Bagarn has been around for thousands of years thanks to the immortality corprus gives. I doubt there are many others who have been affected by corprus that have survived for that long, else if they have they went over to the SIxth House and became ghouls, zombies, and ascended sleepers. Since Ash Ghouls can speak we can assume they've also come out of the beast-like madness that lower Corprus Beasts have.

Hmm yes. 'Just been back to pay the old fellow a much be-lated visit. "In time, I emerged from my dimentia". He didn't really want to elaborate any further so I popped back upstairs to have a quick chinwag with yo main man Divayth Fyr. But he wasn't any more forthcoming than the darling old Dwemer.
