Intel HD 3000 Only Graphics Selection

Post » Thu Jul 19, 2012 12:17 am

Hi,

I have an Intel 2600K processor and an nVidia GTX 570 in my Asus Maximus IV Exrtreme motherboard. Graphic drivers are of the latest (ver 301 I think). My problem is that the game runs off of the HD 3000 graphics on the processor and not the GTX 570. Clicking on 'Play' the graphics are detected and I see that my GTX 570 is selected, clicking 'Play' again the graphics are again detected but change to the processor chips onboard HD 3000...with no option in the drop down menu to select anything else. The game runs fine on the HD 3000 but my processor cooler is running at max which is likened to a hair dryer blowing blasting warm air into the room. i don't think I'm doing the chip any favours.

I've stopped playing since I found this problem. Anyone know of a solution?

It happens to everyone trying to run systems with current Intel CPUs and very many Geforces (not Radeons, though) -- primarily laptops with "Optimus". In your case, a desktop system should have a switch in the BIOS to lock the onboard chip out (if not, send the MB back to Asus as defective).

Try updating the bios or right click and "select graphic processor" its on NVIDIA but I dont know about yours.
