"Today I am hunting a PC..." mod mystery

Post » Thu Jul 19, 2012 11:22 pm

Occasionally now when I kill a creature or NPC, they will be carrying a book with the single diary entry, stating:

"Today I am hunting a [PCNAME]. So far I have been thwarted in my attempt at a kill, but I will remain resolute" or something similar.

Does anyone have any idea what mod is generating these? I'd love to investigate it in-game, but have no idea where to start (the journal has spawned in an Alit corpse, for example).

Does anyone have a clue?

You could post your load order and someone might recognize the mod.

Also, if you have a search utility that can search binary files, search for the string you mention in all the .esm and .esp files in your "Data Files" directory. That should give you the answer quickly. I believe Dragon32 has said http://www.inforapid.de/html/searchreplace.htm works well and is free.

I'd drop the book, open the concole, click on the book and use the command "ori" - that should give the name of the mod (or not - as it sometimes happen).

Ah, didn't realise there was an "identify the creating data file" command. That's really quite useful. Thanks!

Yeah, that's good. Although I'm using http://www.digitalvolcano.co.uk/content/textcrawler at the moment. Try one of those 2 if ORI doesn't work.
