Gears of War Camera Mod

Post » Tue Feb 16, 2010 6:42 am

I obviously use the Gears of War camera mod and was wondering if there is a fix for this mod, so to when I talk to an NPC, the camera won't zoom to the right, making the NPC talk off screen. I check all over Nexus with no luck.

P.S. I heard somewhere that there is a mod where you can talk to an NPC without the camera zooming in. Is that true? Because that would make a good alternative.

You don't even need a mod for that. There is a line in your oblivion.ini in the Interface sections called fDlgFocus. I think the default is 2.something. Higher numbers = less zoom. Mine is set at 4.1, there is still some zoom but not as much as normal. Try higher numbers.

:goodjob: Thanks for the tip. I was also tired of having to guess in persuasion.

So, I was playing around with this mod... http://www.tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=29942

Which, IMO is better than GOW camera mod. But to stay on topic, I thought of a way that it may
be possible to fix the crappy un-centered camera dialog.

When using the above mentioned mod, the camera is un-centered during dialog mode when your PC
is standing... However, when your PC is sitting and in dialog mode, the camera auto centers itself!

So, the question is... Is there a way to make the game think you are sitting down all the time when
entering dialog mode?

Any thoughts on how this can be done? I'm willing to do it myself if someone can at least let me know if it's possible.

EDIT - Not sure if this would fix the GOW camera mod issue too, but who knows, maybe it would?

I remember that the GOW camera mod was not compatible with Deadly Reflexes. All I have found so far that is, is the ChaseCameraMod which only makes the camera the way it was in Morrowind without all the motion sickness of the default camera.

Is that one you link to far327, compatible with Deadly Reflexes?

I'm sorry, I have no idea how that could be done, as I have not used the above-mentioned mod yet, but it looks cool!

I haven't yet looked at the mods but there must be some way for them to detect when the player has initiated conversation and "shut itself off" for the duration, allowing normal dialog zoom to occur. After which, it would turn itself back on and revert to its over-the-shoulder camera position.

So far it works great with Deadly Reflexes! Actually, it's probably the best angle to aim for deadly kills! Funny thing is, the author mentioned that it didn't work with DR, so try it out yourself and see if you experience issues. As for me, it's the best fighting experience I've had so far!

True. But so far both GOW camera mod and U3P (mod I linked to) haven't figured this out, or have tried and found it's not possible. You'd think that would be something the authors would want to add for obvious reasons. So you know they must of tried.

I thought I would bring an idea to the table that maybe hadn't been looked at yet. It can't be that hard to tell the camera to essentially behave for stand up dialog the way it does for sit down dialog

The other thing that is non-optimal about these two mods is that they replace the first person camera rather than the third person camera. Again, something that I'm sure the modders tried to work around, but presumably some technical constraint allows only the first person camera to be modified.

I had a thought, though, assuming this can't actually be implemented in the third person, maybe what could be implemented is a hotkey that disables/enables the mod. This, of course, would have the effect of making the camera toggle-able between 1st-person and GOW-style.
