Books at Thalmor Embassy

The Rising Threat Series of books at the Thalmor Embassy are worth serious attention

It tells much about what the Thalmor are capable of.

Most interesting suggestion it had was that the Thalmor may have been responsible for the eruption of Vardenfell!

What kind of Magic do these Thalmor have that makes them so powerful?

They're Altmer, the race currently closest to the Ehlnofey if I'm not mistaken.
They have a great ability to manipulate Aetherius.

That series was written by a paranoid Altmer who blames the Thalmor for everybody.

The TES novels explain why Red Mountain went boom and it wasn't the Thalmor.

The Aldmer were the closest race to the Ehlnofey but they turned into the Altmer when Dracochrysalis failed.

So technically, the Altmer are the closest to the Ehlnofey of the races still around, seeing as the Aldmer became the Altmer.

The Altmer are on the same level as all the other Elves since they also came from the Aldmer.

They are probably on the same level as Men as well since Man have been the largest power force on Tamriel since the Merethic.

Only in their own minds are they closest to the Earth Bones. Nobody knows what the hearts of those beings truly hold. I'd argue that men probably think they're living up to their ideals more than Elves, as well.

But as far as I know, the Chimer, the Orsimer and the Bosmer were once Altmer, but they broke loose or got exiled for various reasons. Only after they split from the Altmer did they change, the Chime rbecoming Dunmer, the Orsimer becoming Orcs and the Bosmer signing the Green Pact. Wouldn't it be correct to say that the other races of Mer originated from the Altmer?
