Exposing Chief Hanlon or not?

Post » Mon Jul 23, 2012 2:52 am

I'm almost finished with the quest when you expose Chief Hanlon, and I have a question. I'm working for House on this character, and I wondered, is it in House's interest to let Hanlon live and continue giving false intel, or should I let him commit su?cide?

On one hand, keeping Hanlon in power will continue to throw the NCR into disarray, but if you are with House it won't really matter since you'll throw out the soldiers soon anyways. If you let him kill himself, it throws the Rangers themselves into disarray, and will puncture their legendary status and people will come to depend on them less. Hanlon is a cunning tactician and to remove him from the picture would be ideal, his fate is completely his own doing. It could go either way, I'd probably expose him though.

Doesn't seem like it would matter to House. The NCR are only good for the caps, plus the weaker they are the better for him.
However, the NCR will be leaving soon, so it doesn't really matter. It is up to you....

Whether you want to better or worsen the NCR.

Truely depends on your ideas of "moral". Despite being an NCR quest its really not a NCR matter, its a Ranger matter. If you like Rangers let him live to help the Rangers, if you dont like Rangers then kill him and leave them without a hero.

think about it like this, Rangers are Batman and the NCR are the police government. The government can always be [censored] and currupt but Batman for the most part is fighting for the greater good. It would be like turnin Batman from a midnight vigilante fighting for good of all into a member of some elite swat team who's fighting on the governments terms.. he isnt as effective because the Government (NCR) is telling the experianced Batman (Rangers) how to his job

I'll probably kill him, as I have NCR-hating character, and he's got a Ranger Seqioua(not sure how to spell that). Thanks for the advice!

The Ranger's are a part of the NCR military, it is entirely an NCR matter. The Rangers also police the NCR's lands from slavers are other such scum.

OT: It damages the power of the Rangers in the long-term and exposes the NCR to really bad-press. Do it.

I usually opt not to expose him but convince him to stop falsifying reports.

I wanted that to do, but I don't know Caesar's got a brain tumor, and I don't want to got through all the effort to kill Caesar.
