Big Town Deserted, Can Not Resurrect

Post » Wed Feb 17, 2010 6:30 am

So Big Town is deserted. When I try and resurrect NPCs it doesn't work. Red just dies immediately after I close the console and Timebomb appears and then when I close the console disappears. What is going on, how do I get back Big Town? (I finished the mission there BTW).

Thanks

Did you leave them without teaching them to defend themselves? If so... well, there's your problem!

I am pretty sure I taught them, but still I should be able to resurrect them with the console, no?

Did you also help fight off the two waves of supermutants that attack shortly after?

But yes, you should be able to resurrect. Sounds like a script is running still that keeps everyone dead. Not that I remember any script like that attached to them.

Are you using the actual 'resurrect' command? Or typing something else?

Resurrect does nothing. Trying to go to them brings me to a location where there is no one. I looked it up on google and tried a kill, resurrect, disable, enable in that order and it brough back red but she immediately died.

There is a script on all Bigtown residents that counts when they are dead to see if you've failed your mission there.

It includes a condition " if getStageDone MS01 251 == 1 ". If that condition is met, Red is killed instantly. That same condition disables Timebomb.

That condition is only set if you refuse to help the town after rescuing Red and Sticky. Either you did that, or your game badly glitched.

I don't know of any way to set a stage as undone, so editing the scripts off of Red and Sticky is the only way of getting those characters back.

Everyone else in town look like they should be able to be resurrected, though.

I think it's glitched, I have had all sorts of issues. On either red or timebomb it said he had died 7 times or something which is impossible if I just failed the quest. Besides, I don't think I just ignored them, but it was about 2 years ago.

How do I edit their scripts?

Assuming you are on a PC, get the GECK from Bethesda's site, load up Fallout3.esm and find Red in the character section. Open her properties, click on the "..." button next to her script, find this section near the beginning of her script:

Begin GameMode ; simulate Big Town being wiped out by mutants if getStageDone MS01 251 == 1 || getStageDone MS01 180 == 1 if GetDead == 0 kill endif endif

Add a ; in front of the "kill" command.

Same thing for Timebomb, find this section

BEGIN GameMode; simulate Big Town being wiped out by mutants if getStageDone MS01 251 == 1 if GetDisabled == 0 disable endif endif

Add a ; in front of "disable"

Save your new file with a name of your choice and activate it as a new mod.

Thanks, so this would be the best way to get big town back?
