I need help, Fallout3 crashes on windows7.

I start the game, and after sellecting new game it crashes.

I all ready did the following things:
- update to 1.7 (after that i got the xlive.dll error, installed mic games for live), after this fo3 keeps crashing.
- Started the fallout3 launcher as administrator and in vista compatable mode.
- De-installed asus smart docter.
- Installed media codec pack 2010
- Severall times de-installed and installed Fallout3

What must i do?????

did you update GfWL or get the newest version?

Dont know what you mean by that,i just installed it and downloaded THE update file from fallout3.com

Incidentally, there is no X2 2700 processor from AMD. There was an "Athlon XP" Barton quite a few years ago, and some Semprons shared the "2700" -- however none of those would fit into the AM2 socket on an Asus A8N32 mainboard.

Noticed you have an Asus video card. If you have Asus's GamerOSD or Smartdoctor utilities installed, uninstall them as they will interfere with the game

I got fet up with not starting, so i did a clean install of windows7 Ultimate.
After that i installed the missing drivers.
Didn't installed osd and smartdoc
- Installed the game worked
- updated to 1.7uk gave the gfwl error.
- installed gfwl, game starts, give only one crash by window switching (alt-tab)

- deinstalled GameOSD, game runs fine


Tommorow i'm going to reinstall my pc in my normal order, Windows, drivers, deamontools, winrar, office other programs and then my games, lets see how he works after that...

Yeah, STOP REINSTALLING WINDOWS. It is stupid and unnecessary to reinstall something that doesn't need to be reinstalled. You are wasting time and putting your hardware under needless usage.

99% of the time, the order you install programs has nothing to do with anything. You already found that gameOSD caused the game to crash, so leave it uninstalled and you are 100% good to go.

Also, don't mention deamontools. Since it is related to piracy, the moderators have said it is not to be mentioned.

Reinstalling wasn't bad at this time, because i just had my pc updated to win7 so there is nothing wrong at this time.
And i wanted to know what causes the crash exactly.
But you here it very often that people do a reinstall, because the registery also gets full with old not deinstalled crap..
