I played new vegas first, then bought fallout 3. It seems to me that fallout 3 is better in almost every way.
The story was way better then new vegas, NV felt like mass effect 2, it had a great story but was to much of a side story(not fighting reapers)
Fallout 3 had about 50 million less crashes! I crashed once in all of fallout 3 compared to fallout new vegas which crashed all the time!
Felt more dangerous, fallout new vegas was so easy and laid back. It is in a big empty desert while fallout 3 was in a close quarters city. I never new when a super mutant ambush would come, as opposed to new vegas where you could see an attack for miles.
Way better enemies in fallout 3, super mutants were awsome to fight and the enclave was a great enemy too, and there were way more ghouls. fighting the legion and occasional powder gangers doesnt live up to it.
There was a bigger need to be a scavanger, which is what I really want in a post apocolyptic game. I remember scavanging around for books to sell to the BOS in the library.
The gunplay isnt better or worse, but I actually used vats.
I was almost done with fallout new vegas when my friend somehow made the game freeze and fired several bullets in slow motion. I didnt even know vats existed until the end, atleast fallout 3 tells you how to use it.
The only big advantage to fallout new vegas is letting you recruit every companion and adding some new guns.
I cant be the only one that thinks like this. Why do people think new vegas is better?

He pretty much has the exact points I wanted to add,so no point writing all of it again.
Since they have this thread might as well have a little discussion on it.I am still not convinced with New Vegas, but again the crashes and complete turn from the wasteland is turning me away. When you think of Fallout, you think wasteland,survivial..not deserts with casinos or political stories all of a sudden.I will agree NV has a big story, and I wish Beth takes that and incorporates it better in the wasteland.
